Below is for the people wondering about the online issues etc...

    Hope it helps!

THQ have released details on the upcoming patch for their 'jam packed' recent release, Homefront.

THQ and Kaos Studios have been completely taken by surprise as to how fast Homefront has sold since release. With such rapid sales of the game, its servers just couldn't handle the huge demand for multiplayer carnage! It was announced last week that besides extra servers being put to work, a patch was also in the works to hopefully resolve some of the other known issues relating to the online mulitplayer side of the game.

The incoming title update will address Profile Corruption (a.k.a. the 'Freeze' bug), Leaderboard, Matchmaking and Stats issues. Here are the details:

Update 1: Xbox 360 Critical Title Update
    - Scheduled for Microsoft Submission in the next day or two
    - Fixing the Xbox Live Profile Corruption ‘Freeze’ Issue
    - Fix for players being matched in distant server locations

    2. Update 2: Additional Game Issues Fixes
    - Xbox 360 will submit as soon as Update 1 is released live.
    - Fixes include:
    - Multiplayer Freezing (affecting X360 & PS3)
    - Experience and Statistics Resets (affecting X360 & PS3)
    - Improving Party Matchmaking & Joining with Friends (affecting X360 & PS3)
    - Fixing the Beacon Error (affecting X360 only)
    - Correcting inconsistent Leaderboards data (affecting X360 & PS3)

The update will be submitted to Microsoft within "the next day or two", so hopefully the patch will be available very shortly.

Load of bollix. They said before release that they had servers in place that could handle 200% of the expected sales (and it didn't sell anywhere near what they actually were expecting, after the worse than expected reviews came out).
Maybe we'll get lucky and Microsoft will push it though, but afaik, it takes at least a week to get through their certification process.

Edit: Thanks for posting here though, my anger is not directed at you :)

Odd. Why are they releasing two patches instead of one as you can only patch a game x amount of times without having to pay fees? This is not a good sign.

Recently Test Drive Unlimited 2 needed a patch because the game was released unfinished and a lot of features did not work.

Anyway, long story short. By the time they had actually made the patch, tested it, and sent it to Mircrosoft, the game had been out well over a month.

It appears to take at least two weeks from the time of submitting a patch to Microsoft and it actually being released for download. Same was true of Fallout: New Vegas back in November.

What were they expecting to sell?

375,000 copies on day one alone in the U.S is more than a solid result....

"We are delighted with first day sales for Homefront and are already fulfilling re-orders for the game from multiple retailers"

They need to sell 2 million copies to break even, and reports on their forum (not the most reliable source I know ) indicate that its the 2nd most returned game in EB stores in the States, since 1995. They also shipped 1.5million copies, so probably hoping for high early sales.
Obviously its early in its it lifecycle, but Black Ops sold 5.6 million copies on its first day in NA and UK.
