u can hand paint it, one coat of acrylic(water based) undercoat primer and then two coats of finish (choice gloss, satin, eggshell). easy enough to do it urself. make sure u sand it well first and then light sand between coats.
    good luck

    Hi,
Have the been varnished/painted previous, say factory finished, or is it new mdf board.
If its been done previous you might need a different primer,
Also make sure to wash/clean them thoroughly before hand as any Grease will react with the paint.

    Hi

Make sure you sand down the units with a fine grade paper then wash down with sugar soap.
Prime with BIN shellac based primer and then apply 2/3 coats of Colourtrend waterbased eggshell, (its easy to apply and odourless).
    Best of luck.

Oh and run a bead of caulk around the edges so theres no dark lines between the units and the walls.

Thinking of doing something similar with bedroom wardrobe doors. They've a melamine type coating, but it's like a chipboard underneath.

So will seek to prime them, undercoat and then use a satin finish. Anyone recommend a decent primer.

For top coat would dulux satin be ok?

Would apply with small roller to avoid stroke marks. Doors are over 2 metres by 595 mm.

Is eggshell more of a Matt finish than satin? Might work better alright.

Yes you would be right there but I find that some of the satin finishes are more like undercoat and do not wipe clean easily, though I have found the colourtrend eggshell to have a fairly good finish (but it will take extra coats to achieve a great result).
