Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't get it, it's crap. Search on the forum, tons of threads giving out about them. It's a crummy digital camera stuck inside some sort of housing.

Like so many people, I have a small collection of old slides and negatives that I'd like to transfer to digital format.

Reading reviews, it seems the affordable scanners are useless, yet I don't have enough material to justify purchasing an expensive scanner. If there was an urgent need for a specific slide to be processed I would use a professional service, but the cost would be prohibitive for a large batch.

Perhaps the solution would be a group of like minded people to pool together?

seasoft - rua red in tallaght allow you to use a bat**** expensive scanner (a hasselblad flextight) for €2.50 an hour. i keep meaning to head out myself.

    *ahem*

Speaking from someone who spends an awful lot of time in Ruared, if you've a lot of scanning to do, don't use the Flextight scanner. While it's a fantastic scanner for someone looking to get high res files, you can only really do one image at a time. Buuuut, there's a lesser known Kodak behind you, the scanning masks are in reception. It'll eat up about 20 slides a go, at as high resolution as you'll need from a 35mm/120 piece of film.

Don't worry, it always makes those crazy noises. If you've any hassles with software, ring reception and see if I'm around.

pretty much the way i'm used to working...
    which has the better software?

Both have their ups and downs. The Kodak is far easier to get a scan out of (a case of 'click preview, click scan' at its most basic), the Flextight has LOADS of control, depends what you're after. Unless you really wanted REALLY high resolution out of something (and hopefully that something will be 120 or bigger), I'd recommend people to use the Kodak, but noone listens and gets frustrated trying to work out the Hasselblad software.

Buy a decent scanner if you plan to shoot film alot.. it will be expensive but worth it in the long run.
