    Silent Servant

Silent Servant is a producer responsible for some of the most eclectic and innovative techno to have emerged in recent years. Part of an exhilarant creative resurgence in the genre, he is also the newest talent in the Sandwell District line-up.
Along with Regis and Female, of the legendary English Downwards imprint, and NYC underground legend Function, Silent Servant has not only founded a new, contemporary sound, but also the support needed for the basis of a highly conceptual and uncompromising new label rooted in experimentalism and a semi-industrial aesthetic.Without doubt the most eminent underground techno label of the moment, Sandwell District has, since 2002, established itself as a flag bearer for experimental techno, a raw and enigmatic collective putting forward the most consistent of musical outputs, and refusing to fit into the normal parameters of what an electronic label is perceived to be.With support from all quarters (they count Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Len Faki and the Berghain crew, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Sleeparchive, Speedy J and Troy Pierce among their many devotees) they have not just blurred the boundaries of techno, but have dissolved them and re-built it in their own unique image. Stripping away some of the brutality and incorporating a stiff dose of broken beats as well as embracing a certain noise-drenched minimalism into their productions, Silent Servant soon became one of the core artists of this label. His own productions are often deep, dubby, dense, off-kilter and melancholy; in their very essence beautiful, forward thinking and timeless. An ardent lover of vinyl, his sets are a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards, delivering modern and unexpected classics from each and every performance. Having already entertained crowds at staple nights such as Droid (LA), Rockets (Osaka), Bunker and Octave (NYC), Smart Bar (Chicago), and regularly at Berlin’s notorious Berghain, a venue that has benefited more than once from a special 5 hour set.Early 2011 will bring imminent remixes for Ibadan and Kontra, as well as a much anticipated LP for Sandwell District that will no doubt continue to plough the deepest reaches of his talent, and strive to meet the standard of quality that the name Silent Servant has come to represent.

    Dan Mc Elligott

Not since Alan Carbery (Carberry, Carbury, Cadbury, Carburry) has there been a man with a more misspelled (mispelled, misspeled, misspelt ?) surname than Dan McElligott (McEligot, McGillicott, McGillycuddy, McGott in Himmel) but despite this copyrighting impediment, Dan has gone from strength to strength from his early days bunking in underage to Electric City parties. During the past few years Dan has somehow managed to combine getting a degree in software engineering together with supporting the maximal minimal likes of (take a deep breath).. Sleeparchive, The Advent, Rob Hall, Cassy, Regis, Redshape, Efdemin, Magda, Chris Liebing, Function, Delta Funktionen, Phonique, Donnacha Costello, Marc Houle, Paco Osuna, Joel Mull, Samuel Sessions, Brian Sanhaji, Miss Jools, Mistress Barbra, Kevin Gorman...etc

His early days were spent perusing the dusty bins of Selectah Records, but like that famed record store, he has gone in a new direction and rather mixes out on the 0's &1's than the 1's & 2's - no surprise given his software background. Playing off a selection of Serato, Samplers, foot pedals & the occasional record that's actually a, eh, record He is regularly found behind the controls at the Test nights where he is a well-established resident . His deep moody dark music appeals across the board from the trainspotters trying to pinpoint the latest unreleased mp3 action to the older European women who want to take Dan home and run their fingers through his hair and simply take care of him. All this and Dan is still yet to reach his 17th birthday - OK, he just looks 17 - but lots more on the future horizons from Mr. McElligott - someday the whole world will know to spell his name.
