Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi

I bought second hand 5d for arch viz work with 50mm lens.

I would like to get a good all round lens for general photography.
wide angles seem very expensive is there a cheap lenses for the 5d ?

    thank you.
    I am based in dublin.

You've now gone full frame so you've excluded all the EFS lenses which are for cropped sensors. You have a 50mm with it and that's a super lens.
The 17 - 40 f4L is a superb wide angle zoom which can be had for around €500 second hand. Keep an eye on adverts...

    thank you.
I had to have the sensor for the arc viz work.
    thank you for the advise.

Conn's cameras have a regularly stocked second hand section and you get the odd bargain.

As well as P&B's excellent suggestion you could also look at a longer lens like the 24-105. Or the cheaper 28-135 (cause it's much older) that I went for and is surprisingly good.

You could also scour ebay for some of the older lenses from film cameras. Since you're doing architecture you don't need auto-focus and you could pick up some lovely lenses cheap.

tbh because of the full frame sensor its not worth putting anything other than L glass on it (you will get away with some primes) For Architecture/Arch Viz surely the best option is a tilt and shift, I got a 24mm f3.5L TSE in Conns for €999 beautful lens and well worth the money

24-70/2.8L without thinking. Honestly, that lens lives on my 5D.
But I begun with 50/1.8 on the 5D. Still produced nice pictures.

Thank you all for the advice.
I have been looking at the posts but on a HTC HD2 and they are pretty crap on forums to be honest.

    So thank you .
I will keep an eye out for a 24-70mm lens, or I may have to buy 24mm fixed for work anyway if the work comes my way.

The work I do is model the proposed development, and photomonage it in.
So I have to use fixed lenses 50mm and 24mm generally with sureyed point from a total station.

    Again thank you

Plus one on that.. I've recently made the investment on a Mk II, absolutely amazing shots and a great lens.
