    $75 Trillion ($75,000,000,000,000) is €53.24 Trillion.

With it, you could settle all Irish Soverign debt 1,392 times, or all American sovereign debt 5 times. It is 40 times more than all the physical dollars currently in circulation in the world, and 1.2 time more than the GDP of the earth in 2008; that is, 1.2 time more than the combined value of all the goods and services produced on planet earth in 2008. If you spent $100,000 dollars a second, it would take you 23 years and 9 months to spend it all. It is 3.2 times the number of red blood cells in the human body. If you got $75 trillion dollar bills and put them end to end they'd stretch for 7.27 billion miles; the distance from here to Pluto, and back.

    ...I should get some sleep.

World GDP is $58.14 Trillion. They are asking Limewire to supply more than the entire economy of the planet running at capacity for the personal benefit of the record industry for 365 days.

    They are Deranged.

Well, including the black market I'll take a guess that world GDP is actually closer to $75 trillion.

Which makes me wonder, why does the record industry know how much money the black market is making!

Copyright is becoming less about protection of expression and more about ****ing the ordinary man over every day. It's an abuse of the original concept taken too far. Stop supporting these thieves is the best plan of action.

    Copyleft ftw!

A little known fact about the world economy is that pre Limewire it was entirely based upon music sales. They just want their revenue back is all.

Problem is, people were sharing before torrents. Taping music off the radio was considered as a copyright violation. People have been sharing content since before the internet. Hell, giving your friend a dvd is a violation to these thugs. Again, less about protection of expression and more about bleeding the average guy as much as possible. You can't control people who refuse to buy music. It's wrong to punish the legitimate customers, however. Sony for instance will NEVER get another red cent from myself as long as I live. Rootkit installing and all that jazz

    :p

I was joking! If someone's business model isn't profitable any more, then the owner(s) of said business are getting no sympathy from me.

    I am tired:p

Anyways, this is an interesting read. Obama Administration wants to criminalise copyright minor violations. This is beyond stupid. I really can't fathom this warped thinking:

The stupid, it hurts. As if that kind of law could be enforced anyway, they've trouble enough enforcing copyright law as it is.

I just hope Europe has more sense. We are a bit less idiotic about copyright violations, thankfully. America takes **** to the extreme as usual. It amazes me how strict American authorities can be. As bad as our country is, we tend not to don the pitchforks over trivial stuff.

Heay! Just because you don't understand how haggling works doesn't mean you can belittle those that know what they're doing..

Wait, how'd I end up on this side of the fence?

About 4 years ago I constantly used Limewire and had to format my hardrive about 5 times, never again have used that useless software littered with viruses

With good streaming sites like grooveshark.com and last.fm there's no need to download music anymore.

I never thought a trillion was actually a number. I thought it was just one that was made up when you run out of "illions" in a coverstaion, like squillion and godzillion. Who knew?

The names for larger numbers, based on the "short scale" where each value is a multiple of 1000:
    1,000 X 1 thousand = 1 million (106)
    1,000 X 1 million = 1 billion (109)
    1,000 X 1 billion = 1 trillion (1012)
    1,000 X 1 trillion = 1 quadrillion (1015)
    1,000 X 1 quadrillion = 1 quintillion (1018)
    1,000 X 1 quintillion = 1 sextillion (1021)
    1,000 X 1 sextillion = 1 septillion (1024)
    1,000 X 1 septillion = 1 octillion (1027)
    1,000 X 1 octillion = 1 nonillion (1030)
    1,000 X 1 nonillion = 1 decillion (1033)
    1,000 X 1 decillion = 1 undecillion (1036)
    1,000 X 1 undecillion = 1 duodecillion
