Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Folks

I realize these items (see link below) are usually used for Above average lengths of cable but im wondering if it would help a friend, who lives in an apartment block with a shared dish - His TV image becomes very glitchy on certain transponders - usually eurobird (11222/cbs action for example) ones it has to be said- -

What lengths of cable are these amplifiers designed for and are they any use - when it comes to signal amplification i have always been thought the golden rule - Whats gone is gone - Lost signal cant be regained! Amplifiers also amplify interference - BUT - it has to be said that was usually when dealing with UHF Aerials

The problem is usually DECT phone interference or similar.

    But 1472MHz = 11222 - 9750
That's often Wireless Security systems/Wireless Security cameras.

I'd check cabling and use a spectrum analyser to see the levels.

Those are for runs over 50m. You put them inline about 1/3rd distance from LNB to receiver or else they can overload.

Your assumption about interference and amplifiers is correct.

Those also are very poor amplifiers.
Proper ones have a knob or switch for the cable length as the higher frequencies are attenuated MUCH more than lower, and the difference varies with cable type and length.

Additionally the strongest signals are unfortunately at the lower frequencies (Astra 2D) so it's easy to overload the amplifier or Satellite Receiver on the Astra 2D channels :(

So if you do need a Line Amplifier you need one with a distance setting on it.
