That's odd. It's probably a mistake on the institute's part.

I email the institute about the missing ROI tax elective and they said "The Tax solution will be uploaded to the website by the end of the week."

    Hi all

I sat the FAE’s last year. I passed the elective and in the Core I got three green, 2 yellow and a red in Tax so unfortunately I have to repeat this year 

I paid the fee to sit the exam but I did not enrol for college this year

I would be grateful if people could advise me on a few issues

What case studies are in Green, Blue and Red this year and are they the same as last year? (I know people might not know what was in each last year but ye might of been told it is the same)

Are there any new case studies in the resource pack this year other than what is in Red, Green and Blue and the ones below?

    1. Building Fixes Ltd
    2. Byrne Ltd
    3. Dodgy Construction Ltd
    4. GlobalTech Packaging plc
    5. Green Homes
    6. Jones Fine Furniture Limited
    7. Surf Shop
    8. Telco
    9. Victoria
    10. You Look Fantastic

NB - Does anyone have a link where I can print off clean copies of the case studies. I finish work on Friday and want to get them printed at the office before then

Are there any changes to Taxation rates/rules etc from last year?

    Any other significant changes?

I have emailed the institute about all of this but surprise, surprise I have not got a reply

If anyone is looking for advice from someone who sat the exams last year do not hesitate to ask

Are there any solutions for the 4 IMP Case Studies? One of them says "for discussion" on it so that usually means theyr not gonna bother do out a solution. The 4 cases are:-

    1. Sovereign Property Specialists
    2. Freeze Refrigeration Group
    3. Small and Large
    4. Company

Also I was wondering is the Course Material section of the student website the exact same for everyone or is it different for the different centres? I spotted a couple of cases up here (audit elective ones) that aren't up on the website.

I wouldnt worry about IMP if I were you. Just take note of the solutions on the case studies. Should be repetitive enough

Hi, this may be the wrong place to post this thread but I was just working through the case study Byrne Limited and in the soultion it says that stock is valued on a LIFO basis which as we know is not allowed in IAS 2.

However, the year end is 31 August 2010 and stock is valued at the September 2010 purchase price so how does this mean it is valued on a LIFO basis? Surely the stock is valued at September 2010 prices which means the stock is valued at the most recent purchase price and therefore the stock on hand at year end is the most recent stock and would suggest it is valued on a FIFO basis?

    Any information would be great.

  • Registered Users Posts: 412 ✭✭Hackysack

It's a little confusing but since all of the stock is valued at the latest available purchase price (so it would be all treated as being 'Last In - First Out'). As you acquire stock through the year it should be recorded at that date (as opposed to the year end date) which is why it's a LIFO system.

FIFO works as if you're getting the stock in June, July and August and you record the price at that particular level for each month. If they're valuing it by using September's amount it means that they're valuing everything at the last available price which is in effect LIFO which is prohibited by IAS2.

Heres the Globaltech solution, any chance you could post the GEMS solution? Thanks. If anyone else has the Irish Italian Food solution that'd be great. Can't understand why the institute haven't posted all the solutions on the website!

Bar the FAE mock electives for 2010/11 and FAE 2010 Papers are there other case studies which related specifically to the Auditing Elective? If so, could people please tell me which ones they are?

  • Registered Users Posts: 366 ✭✭levi

Well there's the sample papers aswell here

I don't think there are any other ones other than ones put up on the Student Centre for class - I think it's Whelan Engineering and something else...

I'd be interested to know if there are any more elective papers for audit...

    Hi Guys,

Could anyone tell me where I can find the PQA's for Auditing????

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 perfect_circle

Hi zamaramo99, took me ages to find those too! I'm not uploading only because the document is huge but you should find them in Audit Induction session 1 (in Core), and its a PDF document of audit working papers.
