    Hi

Just getting going on the garden now and looking for some advice from the experts!

We have some bedding that does not get a lot of sun, pic attached. If anybody can offer any advice on what type of plants that would be suitable for the area we would really appreciate it. All but one of the previous plants were killed off by the frost and snow so as you can see it is very bare. We would like to really fill it out and also add some colour. Thanks in advance.

Helebores (Christmas roses) medium height - do well in shady areas, as do hardy ferns. Violets (small)also good. Japanese anemonies (tall)(some people think these are weeds but they are very pretty and will survive anything.

Geraniums (medium) - not the bright summer polygonums that people call geraniums,- these are herbaceous plants that will give masses of pink to blue flowers year after year with no attention other than removing the dead tops. Trim them savagely with shears after flowering and you will most likely get another show.

Heucheras (upmarket version of London Pride) come in a range of leaf colours. Berginia (Elephants Ears) has nice pink flowers , you need to get good quality plants though or you could get less than inspiring flowers. (Both medium height)

Good old fashioned impatiens (Busy Lizy) for colour. Hostas look great too. Lidl have Hosta at the moment.
