Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A lens pen will be fine for small jobs but arent 100% effective especially on drops of dried it liquid plus you have to be careful that there is no grit on the lens element or you could scratch it with the force required for the lens pen.

Best solution would be something like eclipse (or 99% isopropyl alcohol would work) and pecpads (or othe lint free non abrasive pads/wipes).

Those circular cotton pads that are common in supermarkets will do an alright job with isopropyl or cleaning fluid if you dont want to spend money on proper pads but they will leave strands on the surface and will catch on any sharp surfaces around the lens which can be annoying.

Have a look here and here for the eclipse and pec pads.

As for the other part of your post. depending on how thick/big the smudge is it will effect image quality.
It might increase flare and also if it was bad enough would make the image soft or have a glow around bright objects.

    hope this helps
