Query on New SkyHD box being sent with multiroom

Hi,

My dad is thinking of getting sky multiroom. When you sign up now they send out their new HD box (no hard drive). He was planning on using the Magic eye on the box but has been told by someone that there is no RF out for the eye like on the previous boxes.

Can anyone confirm this as we wouldn't trust Sky to answer honestly?

Dublin area, if it makes a difference.

Yup, correct, the new standard HD box has no RF out or aerial loop through.
You could try an independent and ask if they have some of the old stock left and request that, if the magic eye is the main selling point.

If you just want to be able to remote control it, well, remotely, I am using these gizmos:

Mind you that's because I have my SkyHD box in the attic (quieter that way :-) )

You must have a long hdmi cable to get HD pictures on your tv.:p

and run the HDMI over in-house CAT6.

The SkyHD box only does 1080i and both that and 720p work perfectly over these dongle things, unpowered, over CAT6 and through patch panel and all sorts.

I reckon there is easily 30m of cable all told.

Actually, strictly speaking, I think it's a slightly different version of HDMI extender, not the MAX Value ones.

I bought something with the MAX value brand before, forget what it was, but it was crap.

I believe my HDMI extenders are NEET branded ...
