Ah he-man and star wars! Truly great toys. Definitely the big 2 in my childhood. So much so that I actually bought them all on ebay as an adult and had them wall mounted as a sort of memento to cheer me up when I need it.

As a kid I used to get only 'big toy' for xmas and bday and then the odd he-man or star wars figure here and there during the year depending on ... what I don't know exactly. I was happy to get them anyway.

All stopped when I hit around 11 and started getting interested in football and computer games and girls. In retrospect all 3 categories have been letting me down and leaving me miserable ever since! :pac:

No love for Transformers or Beast Wars? I see a lot of My Little Ponies, but not Hasbro's other pet franchise.

Anyway, here's some Beast Wars toys I had.

And those 3 would combine into:

Was a big fan of he-man too.

My fave was moss man, and grizzlor

moss man and beat man were identical, except moss man was cover in glue and dipped in green velvety stuff that attracted every bit of fluff in sight

    mass produced but brilliant

MASK did it a lot too. They would simply take a figure from the original range, repaint it and stick it in another vehicle. You'll find several examples of this done, sometimes multiple times for the same figure

My mam told me when I was small, my Grandad went up to Belfast to get me this for Christmas one year as it was so popular and sold out in Dublin, what a great Christmas it was!

    Tigerzord.jpg

Anybody who didn't have any of this as a kid seriously missed out! I would still play with this if I hadn't given it away!

    lego1656.jpg

There is only one Action Man!!

    global-mission.jpg

I used to have a bigger one of these and went around with videos in the back pretending to be the local pirate video man lol

I didnt realize how lucky I was.....I had a really well-made green tricycle,
and a doll's pram, both really solid and painted green with a green leather hood on the pram.
My friend's mother asked mammy where we got them.
Mammy didn't tell her, and I didn't know.
Years later I found out it was something to do with my uncles working at Parkgate Iron and steel works in Rotherham! ;)

One day when I was about 7 a book arrived for me by post.
It was a beautifully illustrated "Alice in Wonderland" and there was no note or inscription. It wasn't my birthday or Christmas, so that added to the mystery and made it even more special.
Sometime later, another beautiful book arrived......"Grimm's Fairy Tales".
I had many uncles and aunts in Ireland and England, but I never found out who sent them. I absolutely treasured those books.

when I got bored of playing with the ships, I'd line all the men up as pit crew on my scalextrix track, or have them building lego walls and crash the cars into them...
