Ah yeah, you I meant :D

Any chance of attaching the results to a post in this thread? And not a link? So for all to see in plain view. Just in case the above link is ever broken...

Clocking a car is not illegal, thats why the NCA cant do anything. At the end of the day if you want to drive around in your car with a reading of 5000 miles when it really has 200,000 thats your choice, its your property.

The illegal bit only comes when they sell a clocked car without telling the buyer, so if the NCA rang them about it they could just say "yeah of course we would tell anyone buying it that the mileage has been altered and it was because the clocks died and were replaced". I assume thats why you would have to buy it then report it.

Ah yes, there will always be someone who will come in and try and defend the undefendable.

It's high time that this country should take a stand against clockers. I don't accept any of this technical nonsense about it 'not being officially illegal to clock a car'. If one clocks a car, you will find that nine times out of ten it is with the aim of deceiving the consumer; simple as.

How am I defending the indefensible? and how can you make the act of clocking illegal? Whether you accept it or not, it's not a technicality that its legal.

If I own a car there is no reason why I cant have any reading I want on the dash. Sure if clocking is illegal in itself, it would mean anyone that has a set of clocks die on them and puts a new set in is breaking the law. Changing the mileage on a new set would also be illegal so nobody would be able to set them to what the clocks used to say and since the original clocks are dead , whos to say the mileage was what you said it was anyway?

You cant have a law that says clocking is illegal unless your a trustworthy guy that only puts it back to what it was.

The closest you can have it is as it is now, that its illegal to sell the clocked car and not inform the seller.

For clockign and a lot of other potential issues, the buyers here need to wise up and make it very hard to get away with. Start demanding full, verifiable service histories and proper info with 2nd hand cars. Work on the principal of "If you build it they will come" . Leave all the cars with no or dodgey histories sitting on forecourts until they are worthless and garages will start demanding histories when taking in cars and people will start keeping histories because they know they will never be able to get rid of their cars otherwise.

That is all true BUT the garage selling that Volvo actually has it advertised as LOW MILEAGE. Surely they won't say to the person "Oh, by the way by low mileage we really mean 195 000" when they arrive to view the car. They will sell it on as 75000 miles. The law might as well be that it is illegal to sell a clocked car but it should be that it is illegal to even advertise a clocked car...

It's also fairly blatently and stupidly obvious what they are trying to do! Foolish people, I wonder will they notice a large amount of interest in it in the coming days?

Advert changed now with an explanation. It almost seemed too blatant and stupid to be clocking to be honest.

Honestly? It was obviously an error. I'm glad it has been rectified

But some people will use any excuse to jump on that high horse with half a story!

    Something smells fishy!

    Something smells fishy!

Quite possibly, but there's no evidence to speak of beyond some screenshots of what could be a legitimate error.

Having a thread that says "this garage is definitely clocking/this car is definitely clocked" without some form of documentary proof is basically libelous.

Thread closed. Any discussion beyond this is purely speculation.

If anyone went to see the car and can definitely state what mileage was/is on it, PM a Mod and we'll re-open the thread.
