i really don't think any of them sound right with a liason? i have no reasons they just sound odd which is probably why you are asking in the first place.. try changing them e.g. 'j'aimerais bien avoir' has pretty much the same meaning and sounds very french.. what are you saying in the other sentences?

pronouncing the p in beaucoup makes it more difficult to say so i doubt a francophone would?

but if anyone here speaks french fluently I'm interested too now?

The p in 'beaucoup' never gets pronounced. It can not be replaced by 'un tas' here.
The s in pays does not get pronounced either.
In 'j'aimerais avoir', the liaison would sound very old-fashioned.
Generally, we tend to do liaisons less and less, unless it's within a subject-verb group, i.e. 'ils adorent'..., or an article/ pronoun-noun group, i.e 'les amis'.
We do say 'detenzenten' for 'de temps en temps'....

Pays était might have the s. It sounds like it should anyway. Not sure though. The other two are fine as they are I think.

    Thanks for your help!
    I just have other questions!

    Are there liaisons here?

    une maison individuelle

    jamais avoir.

    No for both.

Here's quite a good article about liaisons:

    Thanks very much!

    Just one last question:
    is there liaisons here:

    parents ont

    bien éviter

Also, would you pronounce the s in "est-il"?

    Thank you!!!!!!

Your questions are getting tougher!! I'm going to say no for both but am open to correction. Never pronounce the s in est-il!

I think you're worrying too much about the details. I know you get marks for pronunciation but they don't expect your accent to be perfect.

    Good luck with it!

Thanks so much and I promise this will be my last question!!:)

    Is there a liaison here:

    Nous avons un

And are there liaisons before á(accent going other way tho!!) par exemple:

J'aime bien regarder les sports á la télé?

    How do I say 'I don't have a girlfriend'

  • Registered Users Posts: 38 Claregirl5

Je n'ai pas de petite amie.

Explain that you have too much to do with the Leaving Cert this year and that matters of the heart can wait!

Je consacre tout mon temps a (accent grave) mon Leaving Cert,
Je passe beaucoup de temps a (accent grave) faire mes devoirs et etudier, (accent aigu on e)
(Insert whatever sentences you have been taught about studying for the Leaving)

donc (pronounce final c), je n'ai pas le temps d'avoir une petite amie.
