Just opened yesterday - right on the main street where the post office used to be located.

They managed to keep that very quiet. I only noticed it as I was driving through just later afternoon.

    Hope it goes well.

To be fair, they've been renovating the shop for a while and they did have a big advertisement in the window saying they were opening soon. Hope all works out well for them, it's nice to finally have someone in that space rather than having quite a large unit empty on the Main Street.

    Gold luck with this venture.

TBH i think they could make it, A specialist shop in a growing market, with good knowlegable customer service should do well. Just hope they are not cut short by stupid rent demands.

    Good luck, a welcome addition.

All the charleslanders cyclingto he train should keep hem in business lol. There is a scheme whereby your employer can write off the cost of your bicycle against tax and you only pay half price or so. Great idea. One would hope the guys got a great rent deal. Anecdotally shop unit are letting for less than half price to new renters.

So they are not just playing shop? :)

I also welcome this shop. Great to not have another florist, barbers or boutique opening. I wish them well.

will they be doing repairs, or are they just sales?

good luck to them, while there are a lot more cyclists around in the last few years, there's also fierce competition from online stores like Wiggle and CRC, so they'll need to keep their prices keen.

Yeah, I can't wait to check it out. Will be grand for getting a few tubes or maybe a service on the bike. Wonder were they jumping in before the wicklow 200? It's a good way to get noticed by the cycling community anyway. It would even be handy for the locals if you could rent bike boxes

With all the cyclists going past each weekend, this shop is a great idea. On saturday when we were walking past, a cyclist was coming after getting a tire inflated.

I wish them and hope they prosper.

Speaking of florists, we also called in on the new florists on sat as well. they had loads of bedding plants as well as flowers and the prices were good.

Is this on the right hand side as you head into the Meridian centre or somewhere else?

Just noticed that myself today. Is the one where the post office was affiliated with the new one in Bray? Up the Vevay near that O'Briens too.

Would you mind saying how much you were charged for the service? I'm bringing a bike for a repair soon and wondering what the price difference is between the new place and the one at Tesco...

Is there a good selection of new bikes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,980 ✭✭✭Plastik

Was in there today for the first time, selection of bikes is quite small. Looks to be set up for the service side of things more than the retail.

Must have been one hell of an inflation job...

Went down to spend a few bob there on Bank Holiday monday but they were closed. I'd have thought that Monday, with the nice weather and so many people walking around the village, would've been a good day for business, especially for a new business looking to develop a market.

It's up to them, I just thought it was strange they were closed.

Seems they suffer from the same issues as many new and established bike shops... middleman bloated supply chain that super-inflates their prices to the point where it's impossible to compete with the large internet retailers. Shame... hope they do well. Greystones needed a decent shop for a long time.

That was a Living Social deal (not sure if it's still available). I don't think any parts were needed. My derailleur needed to be aligned anyway and I've had good experiences with them before so when I saw the deal I went for it.

Can't say enough good about these guy's. So friendly and helpful in every way and his prices are so reasonable. I've lost count of the number of times i've been in there and he's done a small quick job on a bike and not charged them. I would go out of my way to support them, with that kind of customer service they deserve it.

I would agree 100%. Steven, the owner, is a great guy. Every time I go in there I get a fantastic service. Their repairs are second to none. I wish them every success.

Great stuff.....maybe we'll get a coffee shop or restaurant to open up in the vacant premises.
We could do with a new one....it's been a while....

At €65000 a year just for the rent it will be interesting to see who goes for it.

Yeah, it's my understanding that it's for that very reason the shop has moved... Not sure how that rent is justifiable, but to be honest I am far from a real-estate expert!
