    That's a decent PC spec, Win 7 64bit, quad core & 4GB Ram.
Looks like your gaming bottle-neck is the graphics card,
what graphics card do you have at the moment?

Also, what kind of budget is available for upgrading it?

download and run cpu-z which will tell you more about your PC

packard bell ixtreme M3720 has nVidia 7100 integrated graphic :(
I so hate branded PCs.. they force you to buy new computer every year, or to use their expensive service to upgrade, since they always have at least one crappy component at the first place

Dunno what PSU is in there..but here is guy had to buy better PSU before adding GTX460 http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/54884-28-ixtreme-m3720-graphics-card-upgrade

So you will need 70eur for 600W~ PSU and 150eur for Nvidia gtx460 or ATI hd6850

Make sure you actually have free PCI-E 2.0 (or 2.1) slot where to install graphic card

    he won't need 600w for a 6850 or a gtx460.
you can run a 6850 comfortably on a 500w psu and a gtx460 on a 550w psu altho i heard you can get away with running them on a 500w but with a core 2 quad i doubt it in this case.
and let's not forget about the cheapest choice for upgrading the graphics a 5770 there only €100 still run new games brilliant and on max settings in most cases depending on what resolution your playing on and only need a 400W psu to run them so that would be the ideal choice if your on a huge budget.

what kind of budget is available for upgrading it?
Anything under 200 euros. Thats surely enough ya?
    wattage of your power supply
    Where can I find that?
download and run cpu-z which will tell you more about your PC
Here are the screenshots of that:

I hope that helps. I appreciate any advice :)

the only way of finding out the wattage of your psu is to take off the side panel and try to find where it says on the side of the psu

I think he has 400w already so whats the point buying 500w now and next year buying again 600-700w when needed next upgrade.. to save 20eur now? well i would go for higher spec, could also keep it for the next rig if possibly building own

5770 is the best price-speed ratio for those games more than enough

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭IrishMetalhead

if it is 400w i say just go with the 5770 it's more than enough with your current specs instead of buying a new gpu and psu aswell your better waiting another time for them when your building a new machine ;)

    why not?
you never know he might end up getting more pc games in the near future plus he said he was willing to spend up to €200 and this is only half that, so if you gonna upgrade the graphics you might aswell do it right ;)
