Took a little run across Dublin bay from Portmarnock to Blackrock, stopping off at the Great South Wall for a little breather (its one of my fav places in Dublin).
Stunning scenery, but a tad smelly down at the South Wall, no?

I brought my trusty Trek FX on holidays this year to Killarney and later to Achill.
I'm due for a bike-to-work upgrade in January and I'm trying to choose. I was going to switch back from MTB to road bike as I'd like to start getting a bit more distance under my belt. But maybe something like the Trek FX would be a better option. Do you do long distance rides on this? Any issues with comfort or hand grip or ?

Sometimes its rotten, but it wasn't too bad yesterday ~ just took short little breaths for about two hundred meters before the air was clear again. But (as you seem to know) on a nice day the scenery can be stunning

Any chance you could throw up a link to that location on google maps? I can't figure it out.

I'm going to sound like a complete gobsh*t but, erm ~ how?.. lol

South Wall, Co. Dublin should bring it up for you.

If you've a full suspension mountain bike you can ride right out to the Poolbeg Lighthouse and you're in the middle of Dublin Bay with views of the complete coast line from Wicklow to Howth (including Dublin city & docklands and passing ships).

There's a little cog down the bottom right on google maps and will ask you to embed. Tick the little box for short link and paste it in here with the route you took.

Midway through the 500k In A Day last weekend. Pretty unique experience riding through the evening, through the night and seeing sunrise again as we were pedalling.

First solo cycle on my new bike. Bit hungover but managed to shave 1.11 off a nearby climb!

The FX is great, but if you are looking at bigger distances then a road bike is the way to go.
At least that's what I did - the FX was my first, recent bike and I bought a road bike after about 3 years. I kept the Trek and have clocked close to 100 km on it occasionally - but a road bike is better for this type of use.

My photography skills aren't good enough to convey how steep and sliddery this is, but it is steeper than a very steep thing. Bailed out on the first 2 attempts.

A bit calmer terrain than I'm used to, a slow jaunt from Doorly Park to Cleveragh Park via the back avenue...
