Distinct lack of lycra, impressive mileage (Didn't even turn the Garmin on) and/or rain over the long weekend, but still great to pedal around Connemara/Inishbofin for a five days. Was surprisingly nice to switch both bikes over to flat pedals for a bit.

Nice shots , What is the red bike ?it looks smashing , also where did you get those small front panniers ? been looking for ones that small

    Cheers!

It's a Velo Orange Passhunter, built up with mostly Velo Orange stock and Ultegra. Comfiest bike I've ever ridden :)

The panniers are Giles Berthoud 4.5L guys. I bought them because the description said 9L, but never said it was split across two panniers :o

They're good, pretty waterproof and look well, but don't carry much for the price they're sold at...

It's all about the bike, not the Furry Glen. First outing of the new Van Nicholas Ventus. A few tweaks and ready to go in the W200 on Sunday.

Sorry about the quality. An eerie ride up to the Summit carpark in Howth yesterday evening. Few minutes later down at sea level the sun was splitting the stones

Wishbone Ash - some Fred with dodgy fake tan keeps photo-bombing your pictures of otherwise pleasant and appealing landscapes.

just a public health warning for this thread; from the IMJ cycling injuries report:
    Mechanism of injury

Seventy-nine cyclists (14.8%) presented following a collision with a motor vehicle. Forty-two (7.9%) had a collision with a pedestrian while 17 patients (3.2%) had a collision with a fellow cyclist. Two hundred and forty-four patients (45.7%) had “fall from bike” documented with no further details of the mechanism. The remainder of presentations (n=152; 28.4%) involved numerous mechanisms with the documented cause of fall including: uneven surfaces, difficult weather conditions, and photo taking while cycling.

    "photo taking while cycling."

For those doing the ring of kerry you will see plenty of selfie whilst cycling takers. These are generally best avoided and bollocked accordingly.

id say of the 244 people that fell off their bike with no reason given, a lot of them may be added to the taking pics while on the bike category.

have to admit i have taken a pic whilst on the bike, I was cycling along the Danube at the time, it was glorious, but a rather dumb thing to do :)

Somewhere near the Spanish border in southern France on the Hospice Cycle from Rousillion to Barcelona. Amazing scenery, tough climbs and gale force cross-winds but great cycling.

Where exactly is that? Nothing on maps. Is it on the way down to where you turn right for the Sally Gap?

It's the 10km stretch of road - well, lane really - from half way up Ballinascorney, coming out at Kippure Estate around half way up to Sally Gap from Manor Kilbride. It actually runs alongside Manor Kilbride military range for a bit. These coordinates are the start of it:

    53.245130, -6.389159
