Decided to divert my cycle due to the fires around Galway at the moment and went out to Oughterard. Went along the circuit used for the weekends racing couple of times.
excuse the over use of filters and crap quality in the pictures, took them with a blackberry and posted them on instagram first :)

    no...

a few usable diesel shunters, not mainline locos. TBH those locos look like they burnt down, a lot of the metal work has a melted look despite the rust.

Spin out to the airport earlier, haven't been out there in quite a while considering the amount of time I spent out plane spotting as a child/teen!

Out for a cycle earlier in the north of the Netherlands (Friesland). In photos you can see the cycling infrastructure (hopefully). In some areas you have separate roads for cars, others for agricultural vehicles and then for cyclists. Pity the landscape is so flat and bleak.

Wow, bleak it is. Don't think I could handle too much of that. I'd say the winds could get pretty vicious too.

523km round trip today to cycle 47km in support of my daughter who was running the Connemara Marathon, you'd probably put the bottle of water and packet of jelly babies on the Moon for less than it cost to deliver them to her on the course but it's always a pleasure to visit Connemara.

Its outstanding isn't it? Doesn't the prospect of cycling down that make all the ascent work worthwhile? Love it.
