Top of Luz Ardiden this morning. Super day in the hills. Sunny and warm. After Luz Ardiden I went up Tourmalet, but only got to about 4km from the top, where the road is blocked with snow.

How did you find Luz Ardiden? I take it you took on tourmalet from the west how did it compare, pity about the final 4km theirs some lovely switchbacks near top.

thanks! It was a Nikon d600, not exactly a compact cycling friendly camera but had it out to play with some new filters i bought for the lens

Quite different from the west side of Tourmalet that I did. You can only see short bits between each switchback on Luz Ardiden, while on Tourmalet you can see maybe 1km up the 9%, 10% or maybe 12% road at times. Cracking day

took a spin out to Rush this evening - passed a lot of spectators going home from the RAS on the other side of the road across from me - then I found out on my return to Swords why they looked so tired - some wind - still though a nice 34km round trip from Swords. My aim is to make it to Skerries over the summer.

luiz ardiden is on my list, really would loved to climb it, but had do the tourmalet. Switchbacks are a joy to ride
