Ah, it's Lough Dan I'm looking at, not Lough Tay. It all makes sense now. Great shot!

Ah, good ole Muff. Always good for a snigger. Shame they never setup a local diving club. :pac:

On that little dirt track leading up towards the mast. Becomes a dead end eventually into some bog or camping ground, not sure which. Was up around near where you were for a while until I went off up to the mast.

Not sure where you mean. Kippure mast or Three Rock mast? I was above Three Rock mast (at Fairy Castle), but the mast you can see in my picture is Kippure off to the south.

It's near Kippure. The dirt track leads off the Military Road towards the mast but doesn't go fully up to it.

Don't blame them one bit. Down here it's been relentlessly dreich here for days, aside from a fleeting glimmer of sun this morning. There should be a support group for us fair-weather cyclists this time of year. (Or some years, for the whole year.)

Which road? Never noticed that, which given that Killumney is pretty much my default "spin" direction, likely speaks volumes for my (lack of) powers of observation..

    Before or after K "proper"?

Nice enough day, maybe I'll take a spin out that way and investigate. :)

I'm not going to claim all of these were from the bike... but they're all based around tomorrow's Hill Climb. Quite a few out recce-ing it this evening.

Not too far from buffalo's Hill Climb is another Hill Climb where a Priest is supposed to have Leaped !
/I climbed the Cork side, and it's brutal, serious ramps - loads of them, legs died on the 2nd part.

Looks amazing. Love the roadblock pic. So did he move eventually?:)

Yeah just about got there with a 28 on the standard, kinda wish I had my old compact back or Chris Horner's Vuelta legs! tis a good climb for out-of-the-saddle climbing, you've no choice really. I tried to stay in the saddle at times but ended up getting front wheel lifts.

The last part is unreal, you build up quite a bit of speed after a little descent and remember not to swing too wide on the left as there's quite a drop, and then you have the final b*tch of a ramp to really kill you off.

I don't know the road or the area myself, but searching the web, I get the impression that it's this route here, or some variation on that theme.

Nothing very impressive to contribute either routewise or photographically, but share and share alike:
