Last Thursday's ride before descending into Spiddal from Moycullen, stopped for a drink and was struck by the beautiful light.

When back home over the weekend I'd a quick spin through Sligo town taking a scenic detour along Doorley Park.

Quick spin up 'round some of the fireroads above Sligo's Ladie's Brae this afternoon with the fiancee, trialing both her legs & the new drivetrain fitted to my old Lavadome out of shot.

You may be interested to know that the government have given the go-ahead for a feasibility study to be carried out up there early next year in the hopes of developing a Ballyhoura type MTB facility. There's about €30,000 set aside for the study and it seems all parties involved are quietly confident that the project will kick off properly very soon afterwards. That whole slab of mountain from there to Lough Talt has huge potential

That's excellent news, I've been going up along the Sligo Way from Ballygawley the last few months when I had the time but a proper purpose built set of trails in the area would be great.

Wrong. It's the raw material for his next set of seal skin gloves and over shoes.

Holy amazeballs Batman! So now I know why Ireland cant get enough salt every winter. How the hell do they manage to keep the road so snow free like that? There's not a single snowflake or patch of frost on it:confused:

    Rode Hautacam twice today.

    Twice:eek: Kudos!

That sky looks magnificient, no wonder you wanted to turn around and do it again. Or you were so cold after the descent going back up was the only way to warm up:).

Snowploughs. First sign of snow they are out and keep moving until the snow stops and the road is clear. Then the sun come out and dries up the road. No fresh snow is expected until 21st December and the roads are perfect for cycling.

It wasn't that cold today, 8c at the start and 0c at the top. It feels quite warm in the sun. I had an extra jersey and the balaclava for the descent.

Very quiet out around NCD this afternoon. You'd never guess this thatched cottage at Garristown is on Fingal's list of Protected Structures.

There was a lovely cottage just like this one near Dunshaughlin in the 70's. When the owner/occupant died the thatch was left to rot just like in your photo and once that was gone the walls literally melted away. For this cottage to be survive it needs a new thatch immediately.
