Misty day at the mast on the Black Mountain in Omeath. Not the best choice to bring the CX bike up that climb:rolleyes:

For reference, it's a 25" frame bike, and the seat pillar's well within the "max height" limit. In theory I'd doubtless be better with a frame that's an inch or so bigger, but that'd cost a metric tonne of cash, I'm given to understand.

I thought it was only the bog roads that do that sort of thing....

It's not unusual for bits of road to fall of the mountain side.

It's not unusual for bits of road to fall of the mountain side.

arrived in the mid east USA in July. Searing heat, flat, smooth tarmac - road biking nirvana (as well as an absence of anything approaching a hill). April the following year, after 4 months of snow and sub zero daily temps, roads are in bits - tamnac gone, deep gouges that would swallow a 35mm tyre, many with potholes to rival the worst co cork borreen.

I was only thinking today that it needs to be redone as it's gone a bit pinkish (but looks better in the pic).

What type of tape is it, did it fade quickly? I've white at the moment but it's a bitch to keep even slightly clean! Was thinking black or red instead.

Apologies for quoting a photo, but this is my backyard ....
Did you really cycle the motorway to newry , I doubt it but the photo suggests different?

Just seen your Strava but I'm still intrigued.... Major kudos btw.

I've no idea - it came with the bike. There's 12,000 kms on it so it lasted fairly well.

    I used the R132/N1/A1 - no motorways.

I think you may be confusing the edge of road markings. If you look at the pic you can see the broken yellow lines (used in the ROI) becoming a continuous white line (as used in the UK). The M1 motorway from Dublin ends approaching Dundalk.

Oh no what are you doing to me. You actually made me cry, bringing me back all those memories. You could hear the piper every now and then from the estates on the Rochestown side that you see on the background.

Yes, I'm as inconsolable as someone who left Cork :( (and Ireland, for that matter).

Here is my "cycle" got he turbo set up just outside my place, have the TDF highlights on the Ipad.

There is a fan in front of me that sprays out a fine mist in the summer when I am having a BBQ but no need to put it on it just served as a place for my ipad.

Going out this Friday morning for my second spin since my operation. I will take a few snaps and put the up.

Taking no chances I see with the saddlebag on the turbo! :D

ha, safety first!! it was still on from the ride last week.

I had the Schlek documentary on yesterday evening. The cadence uphill is better than mine on a turbo :(

I need new shoes as my feet were numb after 45 mins.
