Behind my bike on the right is an open section of fence to let you into the grounds but the obelisk itself is completely fenced off inside with no access

Has been restored (again) recently and is due to open to the public later this year. Not sure how much will be accessible.

How are the trails there? Last time I was there they were being dug up by some development.

No impact that I can see but I'm not a regular user of Union Wood & surrounding trails so I could be wrong, I prefer more XC biased trails.

    Mrs FirstinLastout.

She's not keeping her own username after marriage, then? Very Old School!

She's more than happy to take my name although within work she'll keep her own so she'll remain Miss Snugglebunny, says it's more professional. :)

Can see a tower of smoke coming from the Wicklow Mts. Anyone up around there?

I saw that earlier on my way home (in the car :o). Around 6pm. I thought it was a mist but thought it unusual given the weather. Maybe someone is burning heather off the bog. This was common place 20 years ago but nowadays turf cutting is very restricted so maybe the smoke is something else.....?

I'm stuck in the desert but flying home tomorrow (I hate flying), and all these pics are making me yearn for a spin in a nice cool temperature. The picture from Cratloe Co. Clare helping get on the plane, wish I could thank it twice.

I found someone near there today among the rubbish (the only thing ruining the scenery).
