Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Folks.

I need to lock my windows or restrict there opening.

Does anyone know whats on the market.

I would like to ideally use something that does not look awful on the window or can be removed later.

Can handles be retrofitted with locking handles?

Theres the window and door lock company in Coolock, just up the road from Chadwicks or else theres Mila down in Baldoyle Ind Estate who do locks of all types for PVC windows and doors.

They would be your best bet.:)

I should have said but felt i needed not, I have an austistic 7 year old with the physical abilities of a 7 year old but the mental age of 2.

So fire regulations dont concern me. They need to be locked thats why i want a temp solution. ie if i loose the house or something like that then the new owners wont need to replace the windows.

Thanks for the heads up. I am aware of upstairs windows and locking, but downstairs are now a problem as well.

Yale make UPCV window snap locks, that you screw onto the inside of the frame and you can lock them with the key provided,to prevent the window from opening.

    About 15 euro each.

Woodies and BnQ have them, but Id say you would get them cheaper elsewhere

You can replace the hinges on the windows with ones that restrict the amount they open and can be bypassed by pressing in a catch on the hinge

Folks, your excellent as always. I got in touch with the manufacturer. I am changing the handles for lockable handles. That way the handles will only need to be changed back if circumstances change in the future.

Also if the handles dont work international glass said they can fit bits of metal into the hindge that restricts its opening.

So i have 2 options to move with.

Until the handles come i have drilled a hole in a plastic bottle top and cabled tied it to the button so it cannot be pressed.

Thats what drinking club orange does to you ;)
