Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

you only use the subjunctive in prayers and wishes

'go raibh maith agat' 'go n-éirí leat' 'go dtaga do ríocht' are in the subjunctive

in corresponds to the english 'may'

may the luck be with you, may you enjoy yourself, etc.

    Don't confuse it with
An bhfuil cead agam? which means May I? (lit. Have I permission?)

I don't think you have to worry about it much.

How would you say "I wish they could win the county championship" or "I wish I didn't have to leave all my friends"

Ba bhreá liom é dá mbeadh siad in ann craobhchomórtas an chontae a bhuachan.

Ba bhreá liom é mura mbeadh orm mo chuid cairde ar fad a fhágáil.

Hairy you could try and throw in the odd 'muise' (indeed/actually). It's one of those filler/pause words, and would really impress the examiner! And it's so easy. You could get it in the once before you say a 'I wish' kind of sentence.

What would impress the examiner the most, I'm alright at the easy stuff family, school and that but I'm not great at current affairs- an tubaiste sa tSeapáin agus an bínse fiosrúcháin Moriarty- nílim aineolach amach is amach ach d'fhéadfainn bheith níos fearr

Sounds like you are doing great. Just by throwing in a few random/ different phrases that don't sound learned off would impress a lot, as the examiner as you prob know will be hearing the same type stuff all the time.

Another easy trick is to really try and pronounce the 'ch' properly, like as in 'ach'. Just go to town on the ch sound there. Ask your teacher for help pronouncing it if you're not sure. It's a very distinct sound.

I think just incorporating a few easy things like that will up your marks for sure.
