Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cheap windows 7, does it sound a bit dubious?

    Hey,

I have a pc with no operating system as yet and plan on putting windows 7 on it.

I was shopping around the local IT guys in my area when one, who works from home, said he would install it for €50 for me... which seems almost too cheap?

As a student I can get an upgrade copy for Windows 7 Pro for €45, and I have an unused copy of xp here that I can install, then upgrade from there. BUT, if I can get it done for 50 its worth my while to do that and keep my xp for the time being.

Does €50 for a genuine copy of Windows 7 sound a little dubious to anyone else or am I just being paranoid?

That's what I meant about getting it for €45, I've already ordered software off them and found them fantastic but i'll need to use my xp licence to install the upgrade versions of windows 7 they sell.

When he quoted you for the installation was that for just the installation or for the installation plus the price of the OS?

It's still an upgrade. It's just not an in-place upgrade.

But won't microsoft stop doing updates for xp in the future-they are trying to push everyone to upgrade to 7.

Their stopping SP2 soon but SP3 is going till 2013... I hope I got that right now lol.

I ended up nit taking it too him, it just doesn't seem right. Bought a cheap copy of xp from an IT mate and order a upgrade version of windows 7 from software4students.

I have windows 7 on the laptop so Ive gotten used to it. It's not costing an arm and a leg either so I might as well
