Can anyone tell me if there is designated parking in Croke Park and Marino for the exams? Or is it street parking? Thanks

Plenty of street parking around Croke Park. All along Clonliffe Rd is free street parking and lots of side roads all round. Just watch out for a couple of freeway signs. Good luck

How did people get on in the P6 exam. It didnt seem that bad, well at least I could attempt all the questions.

First time in my life I did not get the exam finished. I thought it was a fair enough paper but......after preaching time management to so many people for years......I cocked it up myself. Having said which, my mind went blank on anything other than the basics on retirement relief so I don't think I had a lot more to say anyhow.

Was mighty pleased with Audit though.

Has anyone had any feedback as of yet from BPP or the ACCA in relation to the mess with the BPP study text??

I had a very courteous email back from BPP saying that would get back to me as soon as possible when they'd looked into the matter - nothing back from ACCA yet.

Ball buster is an understatement, I left at least 20 marks unattempted due to time...about 5 marks on each question. Each Q had a tricky little bit....and the NPV at the start was waaay too long!

I too, had an e-mail back from BPP thanking me for my feedback and saying it will take time to look into the matter.

BPP Ireland is fully committed to supporting its students in preparation for their ACCA examinations so that they can perform to the highest standards.

Following the concerns expressed in relation to the course material for the June 2011 F6 examination, BPP Ireland will immediately commence an investigation to determine how this occurred and a full review of the F6 material will be undertaken to ensure that is updated to fully reflect the syllabus for the December 2011 examinations.

BPP Ireland will support our F6 students in the following ways should any of them need to re-sit this paper:

For those students who were enrolled on a BPP F6 complete course, BPP Ireland will provide a FREE F6 complete course and a FREE updated suite of F6 study material for the December 2011 examination.

For those students who were enrolled on a BPP F6 revision only course, BPP Ireland will provide a FREE F6 revision course and a FREE updated suite of study material for the December 2011 examination.

For those students who were enrolled on a BPP F6 distance learning course in preparation for the June 2011 F6 examination, BPP Ireland will provide a FREE F6 distance learning course and a FREE revision course for the December 2011 examination.

For those students who purchased a suite of material for F6 in preparation for the June 2011 examination paper (an original receipt/proof of purchase will be required), BPP Ireland will provide a FREE F6 revision course and a FREE updated suite of F6 study material for the December examination.

An immediate investigation has commenced to determine how this occurred and a full review of the material will be undertaken to ensure that the F6 material is updated to fully reflect the syllabus for the December 2011 examinations.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to our students and remain fully committed to helping you succeed in your ACCA examinations.

Unfortunately Peter this is not good enough. I will be extremely annoyed if I fail this exam as I was fully prepared or so I thought. It did not dawn on me that what I was trying to study was not the absolute 'bible' when it came to this exam.
It's clear that your company was not even aware until Monday that it did not have the course covered in its publication! How can this be? What about the ACCA approval?
I paid for childcare for my 3 kids for several weeks (hundreds of euro) in order to prepare for this exam, in addition to the countless other weekends I endured.
I spent €125 on purchases from your company for this exam. Pending the exam result, if I don't get a full refund I will not be purchasing any more distance learning material from your company.

You can do better than this.

Well how did people find P1 today.
Was so glad I read the examiner article last night, can't believe how much came up in Question 1 from it :)
    The option questions were doable.

2nd attempt at paper, got 49 in dec. Think I did better this time but sometimes it's not the best sign if you come out of exam feeling good

Thats that now for this year.

Best of luck to everyone for remaining exams

P1 was a very fair exam this time, think I did well at it.

    Time for P2 tomorrow.

Hey, where did you read the examiner article? I have F7 in the morning and I'd love to have a quick read. I've looked at the ACCA website but can't find anything current.

How did people get on with paper F5 yesterday? i thought overall, ok but every single aspect of course needed to be covered, bar the new syllabus additions!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 starfish30

i did f5 yesterday, i feel like i just poured out all the knowledge out of my brain after the exam... i can barely remember what questions were on it... couldn't believe there was not break even or activity based costing question... thought they were a dead cert. did ok though, thought it was fair... last question on TPAR had me gone a bit though, got confused when questions said bottleneck was surgeon hours, but question then went on about theatre hours, and then wasn't sure i had the right formula remembered exactly... by that stage i was out of time and brainpower to think it through logically. Certainly not 100 % but think i got 50-60%.

By the way, used Kaplan so far, and going to be doing F6 in December, don't want to touch BPP with a bargepole after reading about their disaster. Are their any other options for F6 other than BPP, I know you can't do with kaplan. I did F4 law for ireland with Griffith and they provided their own book and past papers... could i do f6 by distance learning with them and stay away from BPP?

Well done, likewise I feel like I did ok, did good attempts at all questions but know I didnt get right answers for some, even though my methodology was right. hoping for good pass.
As for F6 - some people I met at exam centre said they'd a kaplan book but I couldn't find anything from kaplan when I looked online back in March. Good luck with it, its not a bad exam in terms of understanding, its just lots and lots of rules!

Julie Hawkins from Dublin Business School does a great tax book and very easy to follow. I'd go with Kaplan for everything else. Their books and website are excellent. I'm sure you could just buy the book from DBS.

Anyone do F7 today? Don't think it was too bad but its such a big rush trying to get all the Qs done. I only did 4.25 Qs by the end of it.

Hi Fungus, I did P2 yeterday, it was a very fair paper, I'm just hoping I passed it as I dont think I'd get such a decent paper next time around. I've been sure before that I've passed ACCA exams and have ended up failing so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for this one!! I'd heard such horror stories about this paper before I sat it so I was relieved with yesterdays version

BPP Ireland will be in contact with all our F6 Irish Variant students to outline the support for any students (Classroom, Revision Only, Distance Learning students or those who purchased materials) for the June 2011 examinations within the next two weeks, with our Free Support Offer.

Our tutors have revised the June 2011 examination and estimate that approx 12 marks on the entire paper were not covered in the text book.

The F6 Irish Variant material is currently in the Platinum approval process. When this process is complete BPP’s material will be the only Platinum Status material available.

I certainly hope that the remark about 12 marks on the entire exam not being covered is not a way of trying to cover yourselves.

The fact of the matter is that i'm sure most people doing this exam would have seen the VAT section as a section they could score very well in.

Now regardless of whether there were 12 marks in this section not covered its an entire section!! Not just small parts of full questions spread over the paper. This can affect students mindframes when they read a paper and realise they cant attempt a whole question!!

So again I hope this is not an attempt to say that students should pass te paper without even having to attempt this section. Those 12 marks I would say will be the difference between people passing and failing this exam. For someone to score 49 out of 88 would be a mark of 55% which plenty of students would be very happy with with the VAT question still to complete!!
