Dog scared to go outside

    Hi guys,

My terrier has suddenly decided that he is afraid of the grass in our back garden

Over the weekend he started crying and whimpering and wouldn't settle until we brought him in to sleep with us. Now he won't go near the grass? He will stick to the outside edges which are paved and keeps sniffing the air but will not go onto the grass!!
This is really out of character for him we don't know where it has come from.

The only thing we can think of is that we put weed killer on the grass which says "safe for animals" on the bottle, could it be that?

    Very odd!

Obviously dogs have an extremely acute sense of smell and it may be the weedkiller which is repelling him. It may not be toxic (although many weedkillers are not as safe as they may claim to be), but the smell alone may be the problem. When was it applied? What age is he?

It was applied on friday and he was out in the garden when it was being done and out all day saturday, it started happening on saturday night.

He's a rescue so we think around 4ish?

It's just very odd! Something has really spooked him

Chances are he got an ear/eye/nose full of chemical at some point. Give him a couple days and chuck a treat onto the lawn and I bet all will be forgotten.
