Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You're still looking at between 5k and 6k for a '43 florin and that would be in very worn condition. Be careful the fakes of course but any reputable dealer wouldn't sell you a fake. The others are easily picked up from ebay. 1943 half crowns start from about 180 euro upwards. Don't forget the coin fair is coming up soon, might be worth a trip up for you if you want to buy these coins all in one go.

Coin fair and auction details below. Yes I've often seen the 50 ecu's on ebay, I think there's one there now but it's at 500 odd euro at the moment. Last I checked at the coin fair they were going for 350 but that was a couple of years ago. I think it was Richard Walshe who had a good stock of them and the lowest price.

Fake 1943 Florins can be spotted by their tell-tale signatures. Generally they are fine to vf so beware of a 1943 florin in this grade. Look at the area around the 3 of the date. The 3 of course is the digit that will have been added in place of the 0 to a 1940 to create a 1943.
Genuine 1943 florins tend to turn up in AU-UNC or well worn vg grade.
Almost all 1943 florins will come with a traceable provenance of some kind.

I have seen two fakes —they are easy enough to spot if you know what to look for, shadow marks around the 3.
