Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It is reassuring to note that AIB are aware of the situation and monitoring it too. Takes a bit of pressure off the card holder. Still easier to get a new one though just to be sure.

Dear Users of the AnonOps Network,

We regret to inform you today that our network has been compromised by a former IRC-operator and fellow helper named "Ryan". He decided that he didn't like the leaderless command structure that AnonOps Network Admins use. So he organised a coup d'etat, with his "friends" at skidsr.us . Using the networks service bot "Zalgo" he scavenged the IP's and passwords of all the network servers (including the hub) and then systematically aimed denial of service attacks at them (which is why the network has been unstable for the past week). Unfortunately he has control of the domain names AnonOps.ru (and possibly AnonOps.net, we don't know at this stage) so we are unable to continue using them. We however still have control over AnonOps.in, and will continue to publish news there.

We would STRONGLY ADVISE all users to STAY AWAY from AnonOps.net and AnonOps.ru, and they should be considered COMPROMISED. Using or connecting to any service on those addresses may put your computer, and by extension your person, at risk.

We will continue to update you on this story, as well as on how we proceed with the future of Anonops.

We are profoundly sorry for this drama, and we can't give you a an estimate on when service will resume normally.

Alas, the IRC-network will probably remain down until we can sort this out.

We will try to keep you up to date you via our official channel (anonops.in).
    Signed,
    The "Old" AnonOps netstaff.
    "****storm", "Nerdo","owen","blergh", and "Power2All"

P.S: Further notices on AnonOps.net/ru will probably be posted to dispell this one, and any unavailablity of AnonOps.in will only prove this message is true. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, THIS ISN'T A LIE, THIS IS THE TRUTH AND WE ARE SORRY FOR THAT.

P.P.S: The person behind this attack is also involved in the "new" Encyclopedia Dramatica (encyclopediadramatica.ch) . If you have previously signed up as a user with a legitimate email-address/password, you should take caution and consider that your account and password *might* be compromised.
    tl;dr:

AnonOps.ru/net got hijacked by a rogue admin, and no longer has anything to do with AnonOps, this domain should NOT be used if you wish to connect to the legitimate AnonOps network. Please use anonops.in instead. Sorry!

Contacted AIB this morning and was told that as far as they were concerned no data has been compromised belonging to there customers. Also if there was any breach of data it would be the credit card company who will advise me if I need a new card. The woman I spoke too was keen to stress that at the moment they have no plans too send out new cards and isn't advising anyone to request a new one.

Almost sounds like those earlier reports of AIB calling customers could be phishing scams...

    PSN Restoration Timeline Update
    Posted: 10 May 2011 09:59 AM PDT
I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored. At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

    Another useless update

    could well be! who knows.

all i know is that when sony announced the possibility of CC details being compromised, i called AIB credit card centre to request a different numbered card. They told me that if i wanted a new number on a card i would need a new pin, but if i wanted a new card issued with the old number i didnt need to change my pin. at that stage (in fairness very early on in the saga) they appeared to be quite oblivious to this data breach and potential implications.

My experience with cold calls such as this are to ask where the caller is calling from and their name. then go ring directory enquiries, ask them to put you through to said company and request to speak to the person. If the caller was indeed from a bank they would have no issue with this as i believe its quite common practice as a method of verifying who you are speaking with!

When I found out I rang AIB and asked to cancel my card. They said that was fine and that I would get a new CC but keep my PIN as that hasn't been compromised.

Did you read the bottom of your own link?
One member of the Beyond3D forum, deathindustrial, was curious about the outdated server software claim and did a very brief amount of very interesting research into the issue....

(Beyond3D's community has a unique combination of technically knowledgeable users with a low rate of console fanboyism, allowing for an honest discussion of things like the PSN data breach without the conversation devolving into another proxy battle in the great fanboy wars.)

As it turns out, it is fairly simple to use Google's webcache to show what version of Apache the PSN servers were using back in March. According to a page request archived by Google on March 23, 2011, at that time Sony was running version 2.2.17 of the software. You can see from Apache's website that 2.2.17 is the latest stable version of the webserver available even today. This is a direct repudiation of the claims being made that Sony's webservers were out of date by as much as five years.

Ha ha I lol'd at people asking me to provide proof of my private banking affairs ha ha.

All I said is that I was rang by AIB they cancelled my credit card over it being used on PSN, it hadnt been used inappropriately or anything like that as I keep a close eye on my accounts anyway (sue me, im a Quantity Surveyor, I watch other peoples money for a living, I also take care of my own). If you dont want to believe it then quite frankly I dont care. If you really wish Ill scan in my old which is still in date and Ill then scan in my new card with blocked out numbers when i recieve it Friday.

    Jesus.

Finished Vanquish and just started playing through God of War 3 today. I plaed about an hour and a half over a year ago and never went back to it. I think I was just worn out with GoW games as I went through the first two games right before I picked GoW3 up. The upside to all this is that I'm pretty much forcing myself to go back to all the games I started, never finshed and ignored after I bought them. It's about time too. Pffft! Who need online when you have about 10 games left to finish. I tend to do this alot with games. Start them, love them and then drop them like a hot snot for something new before I finish them. Must finish KZ3 while I'm at all this stuff. Oh and Darksiders, among others

I completed black ops on Veteran. That is how bored I was. only took about a week of spawn-dead, spawn-dead, spawn-shoot-move 3 feet-dead, spawn-dead. Gonna get platinum now if it kills me, and it just might.

Also played dragon age 2. Load of @rse. They use the same 3ish stock interiors for every house. Linear halls and paths and dull story that is sign posted to the point that I didn't bother listening to why I was doing anything. Just follow the markers, mash buttons try to score the female pirate captain. When I came back to it after a night off I couldn't remember why I was where I was or why I was talking to the person I was talking to. Come to think of it that could have been last saturday in town at about 1am. :o

Despite rumors to the contrary, the Playstation Blog , manned by Sony’s Senior Director of Communications and Social Media Patrick Seybold, has not been taken down by hackers. This contradicts a story earlier published by Bloomberg media that claimed that the blog had been compromised by hackers.

Media reports claiming that the US PlayStation.com site and blog were partially disrupted because of hackers are false,” said Sony rep Dan Race. “We installed a new security measure that has temporarily made the sites inaccessible to select regions outside of the US.”

It’s hilarious to see the media once again jump the gun on the Playstation Network situation for quick hits. Given that these are professional journalists, they really should be checking their facts before jumping to conclusions like this. But hey, it’s the internet age, anything goes.
