Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

not sue if the hackers 'win' to be honest. will have to wait and see. the FBI are involved, and when these people are caught we will see how they get on in prison. i sure they will make good play things for the other inmates.

i love a night in at the weekend playing call of duty into the early hours drinking away. probably end up going out again this weekend , wasting money in the pubs unless it comes back on today.

You might all be in luck
But there may be a some light at the end of the tunnel, as we have news that PSN is back up for some developers, and hopefully means the service will resume shortly.

Gamersmint are reporting that the official PlayStationNL Twitter account has posted that some people based in the US, Europe, and Japan are currently testing the PlayStation Network. Sony is obviously making sure all the changes are working before starting to switch the service back on around the world.

Meanwhile over at ShopToNews an article is reporting that the official PlayStation site in Japan has issued an update for users. It says that Sony Japan is getting ready to bring PSN back online as soon as possible. The post continues by saying that Sony is making encryption stronger, and will introduce new warning systems for early detection of attacks.

I hear that. Sitting in my sitting room drinking while not playing online COD just seems sad. Online drinking with strangers is fine tho'. :)

The latest word is that this is all because Sony attempted to sue a hacker, and the hacker decided to take revenge, but this is what is making the rounds.

Latest word? That was the theory the second it happened. It definitely was the reason for the PSN going down a few weeks before.

What more than likely happened is a criminal group or a section of Anonymous itself used Anonymous' attacks as a chance to hack Sony's servers themselves.

    Could be worse :

Deus Ex Site Hit with Hack Attack

In a case of life imitating art, hackers have struck at the Deus Ex: Human Revolution website, putting some 80,000 user accounts at risk.
    18225-219373-1.jpg?rand=1F46B656-F035-A632-4ADC35E72A16F94B

It seems that Sony isn't the only company suffering from hackers behaving badly: according to a number of reports, the Deus Ex: Human Revolution site, along with that of its developer Eidos Montreal, were hit by hackers claiming to be an offshoot of the infamous Anonymous collective. Some 80,000 registered users' personal data is estimated to be at risk as a result of the hack, including up to 9,000 resumés submitted to Eidos Montreal.

According to IRC logs dug up by KrebsOnSecurity, the hackers were also considering installing a nasty virus on the site's front page, but eventually decided to just deface it instead, implicating others in the attack in the process -- see the image above. There doesn't seem to be any particular motive for the attack besides a desire to see it in the news, and presumably to tarnish the reputations of fellow hackers.

Both sites seem to be back up and running now, though with some formatting issues on the Deus Ex page evident on some browsers. Judging by the chat logs, it looks like the hackers were more attempting to cause trouble rather than do anything with the personal information stolen from the databases, but if you were a member at either of the sites affected, it's probably a good idea to change your passwords.

Square Enix and Eidos haven't commented on the hack as yet.

Don't understand why hackers wouldn't prefer to work for security firms and you know, earn money instead of doing **** like this.

Reports indicate the internal PSN developer network is apparently back online, suggesting that online play, matchmaking and other services may be back very soon.
PSN Developer Network Back Online, Full Network Back Soon?

"The internal PSN developer network is online again," claims NeoGAF user Kagari, who says a number of developers have confirmed these reports. "Things are still a bit shaky at the moment such as lack of new account sign up. Looks like the network, at least the online play/account part of it, will be back soon."

Sony is still keeping pretty quiet about the whole thing, with the last post from Patrick Seybold on the PlayStation Blog saying it would be "at least a few days" -- that was three days ago.

Hopefully we can expect PSN proper to be back online soon, then -- and hopefully 75 million people all changing their passwords at the same time won't crash it again.

Just saw this as well. There is a little info on their forum saying CVs recently submitted may have been stolen, but nothing to indicate they had.

    I hope this doesn't become a trend

In the US fox.com got hacked and employee information was taken but no one knows for certain how much or how little was actually taken.
Looks like this is becoming the current trend. If those hackers keep doing this **** though they are definitely going to shoot themselves in the foot.

You must(that is to say "one must" not "Legg must" :-)) be some complete social ret@rd if the only way to instigate any sort of social interaction is to f**k up peoples stuff so that they shout abuse at you. I guess they need something to do in between marathon sessions of manga porn.

    http://www.dualshockers.com/2011/05/13/limited-connectivity-available-for-playstation-network/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DSRSS+%28DualShockers%29
This one goes out there for all of those who have been stranded on the island of no Playstation Network for the last three weeks.

It has been rumored that the Playstation Network is live for some developers, although the extent of this connectivity has not been revealed. However, it has been said that co-op play was used. This new bit of information was taken from poster Kagari on a NeoGaf forum post.

The internal PSN developer network is online again, at least it seems for some, although things are still a bit shaky at the moment such as lack of new account sign up.

This may have been taken out of context, but it seems that according to this unsubstantiated source, the Playstation Network should be available to all users sooner rather than later. Hopefully this means that more Playstation Network functionality will return shortly, but it’s still to early to make a call about that.

However, it has also recently been confirmed in a PlaystationNL twitter post that the Playstation Network is up for some in Europe, Japan and the United States to test new functionality. The tweet is translated below.

@ snickel86 Currently, a select group to test the network. Territories = Japan (Asia), Europe & America

If we piece together those two bits of information, it looks like there’s a good chance that full functionality will be received by Playstation Network users sooner rather than later, although no official date for this has been confirmed as of yet. Check back for more news about the Playstation Network situation as it is received.

Stay way from soil mechanics if/when you're in college. I've know a few people who refer to 'virgin' and 'non-virgin' penetration of .....soils.
    You'll get over it, eventually!

I don't think people said you were full of crap. I'm pretty sure they were just saying that the servers in the different regions would be staggered back online which is what will happen. Japan will get online first, then North America, after that Europe, Australia etc.
As for the servers in those regions going down because of the amount of players getting online, i would not be surprised at all!
