As a Clare exile and knowing roads have improved dramatically recently I have a question.
How long should it take to drive from Galway city center to Shannon airport. I need to be at airport for 09.30 on a monday morning.

It shouldn't take more than an hour and a half. I had to drop a package from Shannon up to Galway City Centre last week and I was up and down in 2hours 20minutes.

According to AA route planner it should take 1 hour 20 minutes approx.

Yes, I'd allow 90 minutes too, but then add a bit for parking the car, etc.

Remember, there's still single carriageway all the way to Gort, so you could still be held up behind a (Sunday driver, farmer, tourist, granny in her Micra, truck, roadworks, take your pick), so factor that in.
And on that road there is always one or all of the above, I have rarely exceeded 80 km/h there.
So always add 20 minutes to half an hour extra if you're not sure.
And check in is at least an hour earlier, plus parking your car, etc...
You should be at the airport at 08:30 at the very latest, 8 is better.
Personally I'd leave at 6am in Galway just to be safe.

Lol thanks dr fuzz but I did say I needed to be at the airport for 9.30 not 8.30 or earlier.
