.223 to .243

Hi lad's,

Hopefully going to be changing my .223 to a .243 for stalking soon,once i get deer licence sorted.Is it a substitution licence or a new application i will be doing.

Technically/legally you will need to use the FCA2 to cancel your .223 license and submit a brand new application on an FCA1.

The .223 is viewed as a varmint/vermin rifle and not deer legal. Also some Gargai view the .223 and lower calibers as just that, low/non high powered rifles.

A like for like substitution should be same caliber for same caliber or same type for same type ( ie. semi auto for semi auto). This varies from district to district.

When i changed my .223 for a .308 i filled out an FCA1 as a substitution. I also filed out the FCA2 to cancel and another FCA1 as a new application. My FO told me he could not do a substitution as a .223 is not, in his biew a high power caliber, and the .308 is. He told me i had to come back with the FCA1 filled in for a new application and an FCA2 to cancel the .223. Luckily i had these done and simply gave them to him.
