Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Viber!

I'm also having a problem with my new HTC One X running on 4.0.3
    with software number 1.29.401.11

I use a Nokia BH-200 bluetooth handsfree earpiece but for some reason when I am on Viber calls it will not function!

I previously used a HTC Desire HD & it always worked flawlessly!

I've checked my Viber settings & the Bluetooth Handsfree option is enabled.

I'd really appreciate any advice on this from anyone as it's a real problem!!

    Many thanks!:)

    Hi @keredern -

Viber does support most Bluetooth/headset devices in general. However, some are not supported, due to the restrictions within the phone itself (sometimes certain iPhone/Android features or external devices do not function smoothly with 3rd-party applications). We have fixed Viber in our lastest versions so MOST of the BT/headset devices can work, but unfortunately some others are just not fully compatible yet, and we're continuously working to adapt the app to more and more BT and headset devices

For more info, please contact our support team at http://bit.ly/ukGVJ0 and elaborate on the problem. They will take details from you, and this will hopefully help us solving the problem in future versions.

Are there known issues with restoring Viber from Titanium Backup?
It's only a small issue really, Viber just picks up the wrong contacts (puts people who don't have Viber into the Viber contact list).

I have viber contacts that are not on viber (some don't even have smart phones) any idea what might cause this?

Yep. It confuses the database. Youre better off with a clean install

Titanium backups have been reported to collide (or create certain problems) with Viber. However, are you sure that the problem you're describing is a result of your Titanium?

    @colmtheperson -
Thanks for the report. Just to make sure - are you 100% certain that those contacts are displayed as Viber users? Do they have the "Viber" badge appearing next to them, and the "Free Call" button inside their contact page?

Please contact me via Private Message and elaborate on this issue (specific examples would help investigate this issue thoroughly). Thank you in advance :)

I'd be fairly sure, it happens after I wipe user data, install a new rom and then use Titanium to restore my previous apps.

If this problem occurs only when installing a Titanium backuped ROM, then unfortunately there is not much we can do to help :(

If you see this problem happening also when a "clean" ROM (that did not originate from a backup), please do let us know.

Ah it's no biggie, was just wondering if ye knew a fix/it was a problem with Viber - it only takes a minute to delete Viber, get the app back and allow it fire up and scan contacts again.

Any update on VoIP for the BlackBerry app. The messaging app works good, but how long until Voice calls will be available? Are we talking weeks months or a year?

Releasing the beta version with messaging only is only the first step. We are working around the clock to bring the VoIP feature to our fans, and we hope to complete it within the next few to several months. We'll keep you posted with news.

I think vodafone are blocking VIBER!

mine was working fine until today, when I noticed viber was not working, getting a blocked message..

uninstalled about 10 times and reinstalled, vibers activation message does not come to my phone, I click the button that says to click here if no message arrives, parts of the vodafone mobile on the appear on the viber website where I click the button for viber to ring me, when I click that the page errors out.

If I try the same using wifi I can get viber to call me with the code, I enter it and thats as far as i get, viber will not work..

why are vodafone blocking this? I have just signed up for a 24month contract..ill walk away from vodafone and let them go shi**te if this is what there at

Vodafone are saying its a system issue with them and they are not intentionally blocking it, There is a thread on it over on the vodafone "talk to" forum. They said the same to me on the phone (although in the shop they told me they were blocking it lol) Mine has been intermittenly blocked for a few weeks now, It started working the day before yesterday though, havent had signal since to remains to be seen for me if they've fixed it. I did read somewhere the other day that up to 60% of smartphone users would switch network if their provider started blocking voip applications like Viber or skype. So maybe just maybe this would keep them on their toes. I know id move, having been with Vodafone since the Eircell days...

    Notification Issues:

Everytime I either close the pop up message or even reply to the pop up message the message alert icon still remins on the notification bar.

Very annoying as after seeing or replying to a message if you look at your phone a minute later you think there's another message in

    Unfortunately nothing official, not yet.
Meanwhile, we offer the possibility to enter our official HelpDesk (http://helpme.viber.com) where all of the relevant information - also about future plans - can be found. Naturally, some plans are outlined there in a more general tone, since in the technological world it is sometimes hard to foresee obstacles that delay projects and ETAs.

    @paddyandy -
What exactly do you mean? Viber already provides a free calling & messaging service ;)

I have a similar problem as above with my Galaxy Ace Plus but when I tried your advice and other steps on the viber site it still won't work.

I get an error message on the phone saying "There is a problem parsing the package"

    Can anything be done?

    Hi,
Please note that Viber does not officially support Ace Plus, as seen in the list of officially supported devices in our HelpDesk: http://bit.ly/rqbZEw

However, it should still overall function. Pleas specify which version of Android you're running, and whether or not you're using a Custom ROM.
Also, have you tried contacting Android support forums? This error message may not be related to Viber specifically, but to Android itself.

I am currently considering upgrading my phone from the wildfire to the desire c

Can anybody here (viber or boardsie) tell me if viber will function on the desire c? I'm aware of the limitations on the wildfire and just wondering will I have the same problems if I get the desire c

I only noticed yesterday that if I try and share something, viber is missing the big list of apps and options to share with. I went to share an app from the share option in the market. It had all the usuals (whats app, message, email, yahoo mail etc) but viber was missing. Is that normal? I've a galaxy s 2 with ICS, unrooted.

I just checked on my Galaxy Nexus with stock and checked the sharing options on a picture. Viber is on the list for me.

Edit: Sorry, read your post properly just there, and Viber not on the list of app share options for me either.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,397 ✭✭✭Paparazzo

Yeah, just noticed it for apps. The share option through the market doesn't work, tried a built in share option through an app and it didn't work either.

Two of my friends joined viber and I got the notification that they are now on viber.

When I click free call, it says that this person is not available to call on viber but you can call them normally. One person has a windows phone of some sort and the other a blackberry.

Is viber still sorting out the kinks when it comes to some phones?

Viber on WP and Blackberry only have messaging ability currently.

    Viber,
Is there any way of saving messages and reloading them when changing rom/wiping data? Only current way is Titanium Backup but as there are previously discussed issues with that I'd rather not use it.

Are there any updates for Viber on Blackberry? The app has been out for a couple months now with messaging only. Most blackberry users use BBM so with the VOIP feature this app is almost useless.

    jossul1179 wrote: »

What about messaging people who have android/windows/apple phones

    How does BBM work that?

Try to remember viber is CROSS-PLATFORM and therefore has many benefits over BBM or iMessenger... The delay is likely due to some of the less powerful blackberry devices (Curve 9300 for example) having limitations on processor-heavy VOIP applications

    Hi,

colmtheperson's was pretty accurate - we are working these days on implementing our calling service in all of the supported devices and OS versions of Blackberry, and unfortunately this takes some time.

We apologize for the delay, and we promise to fill you in once we have news.

    Nick

As a whole, Custom ROMs are not supported officially by Viber. We partly support some Custom ROMs, and CM is among them.
However, specifically CM9 alters the phone's microphone settings, thus not allowing Viber to detect the microphone properly (and this causes one-sided audio issues).

This issue was discussed thoroughly on XDA Forums, and even a user-based workaround was suggested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25865775#post25865775

Please understand that adapting ourselves to all Custom ROMs out there is not an easy task. We plan to attend to CM9 in the future, but unfortunately we still don't know exactly when that will happen.

Our upcoming version 2.2 (released hopefully within the next week or two) should be compatible with Jelly Bean. So - it won't take nearly as much time as ICS took, simply because the change between ICS and JB is not as dramatic as it was between Android 2.x and ICS ;)

We'd love to get your feedback after installing Viber 2.2

Should be able to go into settings>apps, select viber and then you'll see clear defaults.

    should stop it being default.

As explained above, the setting of Viber as a default dialer is actually an option provided to you by your phone (Android) and not Viber itself.
