Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who are the new babyfaces that can headline a show?

    Indeed.

Their is loads of money heels in the business right now, Punk, sheamus, Miz, Del Rio, Barrett and of course their is other guys like Drew and Brodus with the right booking can headline a show as a heel.

However looking at the babyface side its not that pretty. You have Cena who is a draw along with Taker and Hunter who are both getting on and whose roles on their individual shows will diminish in the next few years.

Then of course their is Orton who was meant to be huge when he turned last year, hasn't really happened like that. He is over like rover but the fact he is still complaining about been uncomfortable working as a face doesn't inspire long term confidence..

So then lets examine the midcard...

    Kofi

Over and very popular with kids. He can work and can cut a promo, last year on Smackdown when the roster was low on star power, he should have been pushed.

    Sin Cara

Jury is out as he only just started.

    Jo Mo

Does he really connect with the audience as a heel or face? Can he cut a believable let alone a money promo? Worryingly you would say no to both questions.

    Daniel Bryan

I can't see him going past the midcard, he may make up the numbers in a multiple title match on a B PPV, but thats the farthest he can go.

    Henry/ Truth

Not going to happen for either.

After all that Kofi probably has the best chance but as the E struggle to book midcard faces these days and give up on them way to quickly you wouldn't be to excited for him either.

    Thoughts?

If Morrison could cut a promo he'd be right up there. But the only reason he's so popular is because he's a spot monkey.

Kofi almost made it until Orton put a stop to that. I think he should be given another chance though.

I think Daniel Bryan could make it but he'd have to undergo a slight gimmick change. He needs to be beating people left right and centre. No cheesy backstage bits with women. He needs to actually have an intense rivalry with someone. Something similar to Benoit/Jericho from 2000. A full-on rivalry between Bryan and Sheamus could do wonders for both men.

Other than that, I have no idea. And that's pretty worrying.

John Morrison really could be the poster boy for the wwe if he could cut a good promo. i see a young shawn michaels in him. i could also see sheamus as a great face and also skip sheffield if he came back

The fact that you asked "new" says alot. The fact is, there is no one really.

    Looking at Mania -
Main event needed The Rock to try get it over
The "special attraction" match HHH Vs Taker used two of the oldest hands in the company
FFS, even the bloody inter gender match needed Trish to give it some spice.

The future depends on the likes of CM Punk, Del Rio, Sin Cara, Sheamus, Percy Watson (!) and maybe a poach of the likes of Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin and AJ Styles.

If WWE gave him a push I's say Captain Charisma Christian :p

    Looking at new stars

I'm assuming you mean Sheamus.Hope it isn't Kane who will probably turn Face then Heel about 16 times before the years end.

Worked out fine for Jeff Hardy.

I think Kingston showed he could do it if the company got behind him. Christian's not 'new' but, y'know. Maybe something could be done for Daniel Bryan and Evan Bourne. Haven't seen a Sin Cara match to comment there.

In an ideal world I'd like Trent Barreta moved up the card. Not to main event but he had about two weeks with Drew McIntyre that got him some appreciation from the crowd before he went back to Superstars. Think he could be set to sail the Future Endeavour though. Barreta and Hawkins would be a better MCMG than Barreta and Croft despite the meh finishers.

John Morrison, The Miz and Sheamus are my picks for the future top faces in the WWE from the current roster.

Sin Cara has a tough, tough task ahead of him. Rey Mysterio is a once a generation performer who got over as a top face despite size limitations, a high flying style and wearing a mask. Maybe he will, but I doubt it. Rey is still able to connect emotionally with people, Sin Cara may struggle due to language barriers and his mask.

Edit: I should add that you should not limit the discussion to current faces. Stone Cold and The Rock were heels just before they went into the stratosphere.

Ziggler is another that if done correctly could be a top face (turning on one of WWE top heels Vickie would of course help with this)

The great Heels are the guys with the ability to be great faces.

Edge for example has turned a corner as a face by mixing his own heel intensity with his heel humour developed as one half of E&C.

If WWE want more people over as faces the need to let them have a personality.

Everyone loves a Scot, they should look at pushing McIntyre as a face. They could run an angle where he's laughed at because he was meant to be Vince's prodigé and that compels him to prove people wrong.

When's Skip Sheffield due to return? Already proved himself to be a tremendous face and heel. A great man, and I've read Vince sees him as a future number 2 babyface.

Hope he survives the cut. Young, talented guy and if they showed his browski of the week clip on the escalators on Z! True Long Island Story he'd be over in an instant.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but it's a bit of a silly question as any of the above could easily be transformed into a face within a matter of weeks.

I'm with you on Punk, Sheamo, Miz, but I'm not sure about Del Rio, Drew and especially Barrett. I can't see him ever being a decent face!

Yes, it's a good reason why they can't turn Cena heel - there's nobody to fill his shoes. Orton is a terrible face. Jeff Hardy would've been ideal if he wasn't a smack bag junkie. But Punk, Sheamo and Miz would be my top options at the moment. Although I think if you gave Danielson a few years he could have the "Benoit" role.

Agreed, but ONLY if he ditches the name. No way will somebody called Dolph Ziggler ever be a marquee name, unless it is a porn convention.

jomo and jericho (if he comes back as a face)

I think Kofi has all the potential in the world to be a top babyface. He just needs more of an attitude, an edge, and I think he will get there.

If WWE champs are more the 250+ tanks then WWE should be developing & pushing guys like Tyler Reks, Mason Ryan, Drew McIntyre, Bateman & Ezekiel Jackson the way they pushed the likes of Brock Lesnar & Batista.

The leader of my picks up there is Reks, he has everything a champ should have. Height. The intimidating face, personality, the power to dominate, TALENT!!! And he's huge. He could be a face too, nobody knew he was a heel when he was on team SD! at bragging rights? Don't know why they don't push these guys.

I as thinking about this again and figure all WWE really need is to give people time in the ring, time for people to really care about if a guy wins or loses.

Why would anyone care about the end result of a four minute match?

Just watched WWE vintage, Piper v Rude. Everyone hated Rude because he loved himself so much and piper got cheered even when he did all the heel antics.

The match worked as Rude was a great heel and Piper knew how to work the crowd.

But it wouldn't have worked if Piper didn't have time to interact with the crowd when they cheered him, he would have to rush things. But as the match had an important vibe off it the crowd really wanted him to win. They could see the effort he was putting into the match so they responded. Rude did his heel side brilliantly too.

very true, for instance when was the last time Kofi was given an opportunity to make people care about him. I honestly cant remember one Kofi promo from the last few months. On him needing a ruthless streak, for me he showed one in his feud with Orton which was really good but he just needs to be given more opportunities, if he was pushed strong after that feud he could already be a star imo.

For similar reasons though I would imagine that a current heel might be the most likely as the WWE gives heels more opportunities to cut promos and the like and once they are used to giving someone time they are more inclined to continue to do so in the future as long as they have deliverd during their heel time. Hense a Miz/Punk type would have a good chance imo

JoMo has a chance but as another thread going atm shows, he has work to do and personally id see him as having similar potential to Jeff Hardy though hopefully without his self distructive tendancys. He was often likened to HBK before but on the mic i dont think he could ever come near his level

Yeah, Kofi had a great chance of getting over back when he took on Orton and Legacy but WWE didn't follow through. Kofi had done well showing no character at all and just showcased in ring ability. Then he got to do some promos, wreck Randy's car

    put him through a table

    But then this happens

And his momentum was forgotten about.
