Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

Our accountant has been looking after our payroll to date but I am now bringing it in-house. Can anyone recommend a good, simple to use, inexpensive programme? We have 6 employees.

I am also changing accountant so can not seek advice from that quarter.

    Thanks

You could try Collsoft, it's simple enough to use for 6 employees. Think it costs about € 130 + vat per annum.

Payback is another decent, user friendly system. It's also €130 plus VAT for a yearly licence.

I've been using it for about 4 years now - www.payback.ie

    I would also recommend Collsoft

Very user friendly and anytime I have had to deal with them over the phone they were very helpful

I find Thesaurus extremely user friendly. 140.00 + VAT per year.

Might be best to decide on an accountants first and see what they use. We use Collsoft in our office so it makes life a lot easier if clients also use it because we can get our clients back up and upload it to our system so we have all the reports we need for the accounts.

It also makes it easier if a client needs help or has a query about the system because our payroll dept can help them out. Not really possible if they are using Sage or some other package

    Hi Etac

I would recommend Payback for wages and payroll although there are a number of different packages on the market which may be equally suitable.

I would also point out that although any wages package will calculate the correct payroll deductions accurately and correctly, it is also important that you ensure that whoever you get to operate the payroll is suitably trained and is able to basically understand the payroll system.

I recently took over the audit of a new client and it turned out that the payroll operator had been giving everyone double their tax credits for about 5 years. None of the staff had ever paid any PAYE for 5 years!!!!

The payroll operator had never been trained properly and never knew she had to check to the tax credit certificates issued by revenue. She just filed them all in a big file that nobody ever asked for or checked. Not a happy weakness of the payroll system to have to report to the client at the first meeting.

BTW if you are looking to change accountant if you send me a PM I would be happy to send you a quote.

    Kind Regards

    Dbran
