A sling borke while it was being lifted. Luckily it landed in water and not on the ship it was being loaded onto!! 3 people on-board while it was being lifted for some reason!

Assuming she didnt end up aground through dragging, there must be serious issues onboard there for these two incidents to have happened. Hope they come down hard on the owners (Im assuming its the same company, could be wrong tho)

The first ship is owned by http://www.combi-lift.eu/ooizzCMS/DA/fleet

and the second is owned by http://www.t-red.dk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=20

Not an issue for the owners, more the crew.

If its an isolated incident, Id agree. What I meant was that having assumed both ships were the same company, that there would obviously have been issues with maintenance/inspection on their ships, which I believe is an issue that the company need to address be it in terms of ensuring there are adequate crew numbers onboard, or that those onboard are properly qualified and capable. There's alot of companies around notorious for cutting cornors particularly in relation to the safety and welfare of the crew's

You couldn't make this stuff up!
A THIRD attempt to transport two ferries from Galway took a new twist yesterday when a replacement ship brought in to transport them to Mauritius was detained.

The Thor Gitta, a 7,000-tonne cargo ship, was held at Galway docks yesterday as new complications arose in the effort to transport the two passenger ferries.

Capt Brian Sheridan, Galway harbour master, confirmed yesterday evening that the vessel had been detained at lunchtime on the instructions of the admiralty marshal, a High Court judge, acting under maritime law.

A ship’s keeper has been placed on board the vessel by the Revenue Commissioners until the matters have been resolved. It was unclear when this would be.

The two Aran islands ferries bound for Mauritius, Clann na nOileáin and Clann Eagle 1, were expected to be loaded in Galway docks yesterday as investigations conclude into the latest incident involving the boats last week.

On Thursday last week the Clann na nOileáin plunged 40ft as it was being hoisted on to the Thor Gitta in Galway docks.

Just heard on rte news theres more issues going on with those boats today. They would have been quicker getting the boats to mauritus under their own power

That's assuming they would not brake down/sink/disappear/spontaneously combust ;)
