Songs that make you cry (or emotional if you're too hard to cry)

The UK Lib dem leader Nick Clegg has been sneered at in some media for admitting that he cries when listening to certain music.

Has anyone here got the same thing going on?

I know that I used to feel tearful years ago whenever I played the Neil Young song 'Powderfinger'. It was soon after a friend had been shot in a household accident. The lyrics just struck a chord even though the song is about something different. Of course I didnt cry though cause I'm far to tough for that!!!

Anyone got songs that come within this criteria???

Autumn Child by Captain Beefheart, the Theremin is very hauting, one of the few ocassions that I've heard it used in rock music without it sounding like just a cool novelty. The music shifts around quite a bit, it goes from this unbeat slide guitar and crashing drums that are really uplifting to these sections with soppy rhythm and blues guitar.

There's one part of the song when Beefheart sings "Autumn's child - I met her at a balloon-bust picnic, ooh, she caught me with the Beauty Queen"... when he sings the part about the beauty queen, the guitar is doing it's soppy thing and the Theremin has just come in and is swelling up to its electronic zenith.... and right there is the saddest moment I've ever heard in a song.

It also my favorite song of all time.

Contemporary stuff; that Burial album "Untrue" and most of Earth's "The Bees made honey..."album, they both make me quite sad.

And "She Just Likes to Fight" by Four Tet , listend to that one last night and felt the best sort of miserable.

The latter conjures strange emotions because it always pop up a times in my life when I'm either awfully depressed or having too fantastic a time.

"the last song" by Elton John written about a man dying with AIDS and reconnecting with his father
