Headphones for films: 5.1 surround sound?

Following on from a post I made in the deals thread I thought I'd open discussion here because I want to learn more about it from people who have tried these.

The gamers in the gaming forums seem to be mad into these type of headphones but are they of any use for films? I was looking at the Turtle Beach Ear Force sound processor to use in conjunction with my blu-ray player.

Is there much point to this? Is trying to get 5.1 or 7.1 in headphones a useless exercise? Would I get anything out of connecting a good pair of Sennheisers to that sound processor? Are surround sound headphones any use?

    Cheers

5.1 and 7.1 in headphones is a load of marketing toss, both for videos and for gaming.
