What students/ex students opinions on this? I'm doing accounting and not sure as to whether to go about getting experience.

    Is it worth doing?

Did you find it useful when applying for jobs after college?

    Cheers in advance. :)

If your offered work experience take it, take it with both hands and take the arm off the person offering it as well if you can :).
    1. It will make you stand out from a herd of people who haven't gotten work experience
    2. It means you can talk about work and what you canbring to a job to employers after you graduate and look for full time employment
    3. A lot of employers use it as a means of testing people to see if they are worth offering a job - you may get a job from work experience without ever having to reply to a job advertisement

Yes yes yes! do it if you can.

I know someone on a work placement at the moment, they had to do it for college but had to get the placement themselves...only 6 out of the 30 odd in the class were able to get placements. They arent easy to get these days and will be vital to your CV when you finish college, if you find getting a placement hard imagine how hard it'll be to get a job with no experience. You'll stand above your peers as very few will have experience applying for their first graduate jobs.

Im on placement at the minute and before we went out we had a top guy from industry come in talk to us. He basically said that in our industry, the work experience and a good reference from the company can count as much as your actual degree in some situations.... so yeah take it
