Naturalization- Becoming an American Citizen

Hi, I want to become an American citizen through the naturalization process. I know I will have to live in America for 5 years first though.What I want to know is, am I illegal over there for them 5 years, like can i be deported if I am caught.

You will need a visa of some sort first or a green card to live and work legally. Once you have established yourself, then you can think about naturalisation.
