    Hey,

My dad wants to run a standard television cable, from our satellite and aerial to another building on our property but what is the maximum length you can run a cable before it loses noticable signal?

    Thanks

Depends on the quality of the cable - the longer the cable the better the sheilding.

I have a 25 meter length of RG6 Digital Coaxial Cable for my sat and its fine

You can't use "standard television cable" for an LNB connection. You must use double-screened "satellite" cable. Frankly, I wouldn't recommend "standard television cable" for anything nowadays. It's really not very well screened and losses are unacceptably high.

Maximum length depends on cable specification AND on the input signal level AND on the tuner signal threshold, so it's not possible to calculate unless you know those values.

RG6 is not recommended for outdoor use because the copper braid on aluminium foil corrodes rapidly in the presence of moisture.

I'll be needing about 65 metres is this possible to do?

Yes, you can buy a 100m reel. 65m will lose about 15dB of signal in decent cable. Whether that will leave enough signal for your receiver is debatable. I would anticipate problems in bad weather unless you use a larger-than-normal dish. Maximum length depends on cable specification AND on the input signal level AND on the tuner signal threshold, so it's not possible to calculate unless you know those values.

i've used 50 metre + runs here in the S of France, where the signal isn't brill, without too much loss.
