Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,

I have come across an old bicycle- Raleigh.

Just wondering if anyone can identify it and also if it may be worth anything?

    Cheers,

It looks like a Raleigh Grifter or something closely related. I doubt it would be worth anything; people do collect them but it was a very common bike in its day and that one doesn't seem in the best condition.

Looks like you were wondering where the petrol goes until you realised it was a bike and not a motorbike

You might spot it here, I had a boxer myself but that doesn't look like one, the cross bar is different than the one in this site anyway.

    Looks like it all right.
The missing gear changers (Twist-shift) and the non-original saddle put me off

In response to the op in terms of worth the Grifters are nowhere near as collectable as the Burners and I reckon it would be worth little to anything. Especially one in such poor condition.

Thats not even closely related to a Grifter, as I was a proud owner of one from new for many years, blue it was too. And its big spongy saddle with the rear reflecter built in. It was a twist shift 3 speed which were color coded, red yellow and blue for 1st 2nd & 3rd. When you gear change cable went it stuck in 3rd, so no going up hills in 3rd. the radr hub had the grears built in and the axle was surrounded bi it, about 2" diameter
You couldn't pull wheelies as it was just too heavy. Everything about it was chunky, this bike is flimsy in comparison.
I remember a friend had a bike that might fit the bill it was a Mongoose, remember that one, red & black too.
