Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey guys,
Im doing my thesis on the inclusion of children with autism in mainstream classes and how teachers work with this.
I am just wondering if anybody knows in any of the colleges such as St. Pats or Mary I that do primary teaching do they have a special needs module in the course?

    Thanks!!!!!:D :D

We had a module in S.E.N. in Mary I, made up of a series of 12 lectures on various topics, including lectures on dealing with various different special needs in the classroom. The autistic spectrum got plenty of attention.

Coláiste Mhuire Marino has a module on the post-grad course for Inclusive Education, which covers many of the special needs in education, and also has a two-week placement in schools that have specific special educational needs units

The SEN content of the B.Ed in Mary I is likely to be seriously increased when it is extended to 4 years in 2012. It's not done in any great detail at the moment TBH.

To add to what Insect Overlord said above, there are around 7/8 lectures on Inclusion as part of infant education in addition to the lecture series he points out, as well as the option to take an elective in SEN (that's invariably oversubscribed though).
