    Hey Folks,

Started to learn German these last few weeks.

Can you recommend German radio stations that broadcast online?

i improved my german no end by simply listening to the news channels at night. It gives you an ear for the language and you fall asleep very quick when they start on about political spats!

germany is federal like in the USA so theres no national radio stations really, only deutschland radio

bayern 5 is the one for Bavaria and the one I listen to to put me to sleep at night.

MDR info is another one up the country, and theres others.
Maybe SWR (south west radio) which has a youth channel rather than the rest of germanys broadcasting output which is often boring as hell (7.5 BILLION euro a year in licence fees on pure crap)
http://www.dasding.de is the link there to the more interesting youth station

EDIT: the private stations play mostly music so not much addition to you really in learning the lingo.

You could, like myself, listen to:
    SWR3
    WDR2
    WDR5
    Or try those:
    Eins live
    FFH
    RTL Berlin
Or here is a map that might help you to find your "Lokalradio" in NRW.

SWR cont.ra - newstalk of sorts, some of it deals with local issues, most (from what i remember) are national though. No music just talk;)

Some companies like RTL or Antenne have a station in each Land, so it's a good way of getting accustomed to the various accents and dialects.
