Netflix has won the rights to the science-fiction story “Pyros,” with Reese Witherspoon attached to produce and star.

“Dark Phoenix” director Simon Kimberg will also produce “Pyros” through his Genre Films company along with Audrey Chon. Witherspoon is producing through her Hello Sunshine company with Lauren Neustadter.

“Pyros” will be adapted by Thomas Pierce from his short story “Tardy Man,” first published last year in the New Yorker and centered on people who are fitted with indestructible fire suits fused to their spines. They are employed by a corporation that recovers objects for wealthy people when their houses are burning — but are only allowed to help people who have policies with the corporation.

This is probably old news, but I'm only now hearing about a new spin-off of Penny Dreadful being in the works, this time set in late-1930s Hollywood. The cast includes Natalie Dormer, Nathan Lane, Brent Spiner, Amy Madigan, Piper Perabo, with Rory Kinnear returning albeit as a different character (well, a character with a different name - could well be John Clare after assuming a new life).

Daft as it was at times, I've a soft spot for the original series (partly filmed in Dublin), but I'm not sure about the change of venue and era. I'll miss Dalton and Green too.

    Agent King

Netflix Orders Elvis Adult Animated Comedy Series
Netflix has given a series order to Agent King, an adult animated comedy series about the King himself, Elvis Presley, from Priscilla Presley, John Eddie, Sony Pictures Animation, Sony Pictures Television and Authentic Brands Group. Today’s announcement comes on the 42nd anniversary of Elvis’ death.

Co-created by Presley and Eddie, in the series, Elvis trades in his white jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves — all while holding down his day job as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Presley and Eddie will executive produce with Authentic Brands Group’s Jamie Salter. Mike Arnold (Archer) will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Fletcher Moules will serve as supervising director and co-executive producer. Marc Rosen and Corey Salter also will co-executive produce. Legendary designer, John Varvatos will custom design Elvis’ entire wardrobe for the series, and will serve as a consulting producer on the series, along with Jerry Schilling.

“From the time Elvis was a young boy he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world — Agent King lets him do just that,” his ex-wife Presley said. “My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven’t seen before.”

If it's picking up where the old series left off, does that mean it's actually a sequel to The New Adventures of He-Man? And wonder if it'll tie into She-Ra at all

    SAS: Rogue Heroes

BBC One Orders SAS Drama From ‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator Steven Knight & ‘Broadchurch’ Producer Kudos
The BBC has boarded an SAS drama penned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. BBC One has ordered a drama adaptation of Ben Macintyre’s book SAS: Rogue Heroes.

This comes after Broadchurch producer Kudos optioned the novel and Knight came on board to adapt. The story tells how the world’s most renowned and ruthless special forces unit, the SAS, came to exist. He has scored access to secret archives to tell the definitive account of SAS history. The drama will bring to life the revolutionary thinking which led to the creation of a new form of combat and warfare. Celebrating the glory, action and camaraderie at the heart of this story, the series will delve into the psychology of the flawed, reckless but brave group of maverick officers and men who formed the SAS in the darkest days of WW2.

Six-part series SAS: Rogue Heroes was commissioned by Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama and Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content. It will be executive produced by Karen Wilson, Martin Haines and Emma Kingsman-Lloyd for Kudos and Tommy Bulfin for BBC One.

Knight said, “This will be a secret history telling the story of exceptional soldiers who decided battles and won wars only to then disappear back into the shadows. We will shine a light on remarkable true events informed by the people who shaped them.”

Wenger said, “It is an honour to be working once again with the great Steve Knight. SAS: Rogue Heroes will lift the lid on the origins of one of Britain’s most iconic institutions and explore the characters, courage and flaws of the men involved with all of the honesty and swagger we have come to expect from Steve.”

Karen Wilson, joint Managing Director for Kudos, added, “The fact that this project has moved so swiftly from development to commission is testament to the power of this story and Steven’s unique ability to draw the extraordinary, complex men at its heart. Imagine them being drawn with the same colour, character and compassion as the iconic characters which feature across Steven’s work and you get a sense of the huge potential of this project.”

Arrow's Stephen Amell to Headline 8-Episode Wrestling Drama Heels at Starz

    https://tvline.com/2019/08/19/stephen-amell-heels-starz-wrestling-series-cast/

The actor has signed on to headline Heels, an 8-episode drama series at Starz about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, Heels follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to (and just as hard to leave behind).
Amell will star as Jack, the charismatic villain — or heel — of the Duffy Wrestling Association. Outside the ring, he’s its hard-working owner, a husband and father trying to make ends meet while fighting to realize his impossible dreams. He has the mind of an artist in the body of a warrior, and a Steve Jobs-ian need for perfection — and for control. He says he’ll do whatever it takes to build the DWA into an empire.

Instinct cancelled by CBS after two seasons.

Just as I was getting into it.

However I'm sure this will lead for calls for Alan Cumming's to come on board the next season of The Good Fight.

Fingers crossed he does even if it just for a guest story.

The Grand Tour’s Richard Hammond and Mythbusters star Tory Belleci have scored an adventure series with Amazon.

In the show, Hammond and Belleci find themselves shipwrecked in mysterious circumstances, stranded on a remote yet beautiful desert island. Rather than sitting around waiting to be rescued, the pair decide to take matters into their own hands as they use all of their engineering and expert scientific prowess not only to survive, but to construct an out-of-this-world, paradise island playground. The series follows the pair as they construct their exotic wonderland using what they have from the shipwreck and what they can find on the island. The duo’s hare-brained builds will range from island hopping vehicles to a supersized hydro-power waterwheel.
