Fox has given a series commitment to a multi-camera sitcom that will reunite The Big Bang Theory stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik.

The popular duo will star in Carla, which is based on the U.K. series Miranda. Here’s the official logline from Warner Bros. TV, which will produce the comedy for Fox: “Carla (Bialik) is a 39-year-old woman who struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that you cannot have everything you want — and still be happy, which is why she spent the money her parents set aside for her wedding to open a cat cafe in Louisville, Ky.”

Parsons and Bialik will also executive-produce the sitcom, which WBTV says was sold in a “highly competitive situation.”

Presumably it will be very different to Miranda as i just cannot see americans doing that kind of comedy.

    DMZ

DMZ, Based on DC Comics 'Civil War' Series, Gets Pilot Order at HBO Max
Comic books continue to be the gifts that keep on giving (for TV executives, at least). HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s forthcoming streaming service, has ordered to pilot DMZ, an adaptation of Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli’s DC Comics series.

Described as a futuristic drama, DMZ is set in America during a second civil war, which has turned Manhattan into a demilitarized zone, destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world.

Per the official logline, the potential series “chronicles the harrowing journey of a fierce female medic who saves lives while desperately searching for her lost son. But as she contends with the gangs, militias, demagogues and warlords that control this lawless no man’s land, she becomes the unlikely source of what everyone here has lost: hope.”

Roberto Patino (Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer, while Oscar nominee Ava DuVernay — who is coming off the Emmy-winning success of Netflix’s When They See Us — will direct and exec-produce.

Filming on the DMZ pilot will begin in early 2020, while HBO Max is set to launch in spring of that year.

    Grand Hotel cancelled
    https://tvline.com/2019/10/01/grand-hotel-cancelled-season-2-abc/
AMC has given “Kevin Can F**k Himself” a series order to an hourlong dramedy told from the point of view of a sitcom wife.
The cabler also ordered to series 61st Street, a “television event” to unspool over two eight-episode seasons.

Kevin Can F**k Himself probes the secret life of a type of woman we all grew up believing we knew, “the sitcom wife,” breaking television convention and asking what the world looks like through her eyes. Alternating between single-camera realism and multi-camera comedy, the series will imagine what happens when the sitcom wife escapes her confines and forces the world to let her take the lead.

Series creator Valerie Armstrong (Lodge 49, SEAL Team) will serve as an executive producer alongside Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, and showrunner Craig DiGregorio (Shrill).
Meanwhile, 61st Street is described as a propulsive courtroom drama that follows Moses Johnson, a promising, black high school athlete, who is swept up into the infamously corrupt Chicago criminal justice system. Taken by the police as a supposed gang member, he finds himself in the eye of the storm as police and prosecutors seek revenge for the death of an officer during a drug bust gone wrong. BAFTA winner Peter Moffat (Criminal Justice) will serve as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Alana Mayo.

I remember the comic followed a journalist as he wrote stories of what he saw. I think SyFy were planning a series before

    The President Is Missing

David Oyelowo To Star In ‘The President Is Missing’ Showtime Pilot Based On Bill Clinton-James Patterson Novel
David Oyelowo (Selma) is set to headline The President Is Missing, Showtime’s drama series adaptation of the novel by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson from Christopher McQuarrie and Anthony Peckham. With Oyelowo on board, the network has greenlighted the project to pilot, which is in pre-production and scheduled to shoot in 2020.

Oyelowo also will executive produce The President Is Missing alongside Oscar winner Christopher McQuarrie; Peckham, who penned the adaptation; Heather McQuarrie; as well as Clinton and Patterson.

In The President Is Missing, a powerless and politically aimless vice president (Oyelowo) unexpectedly becomes president halfway into his administration’s first term, despite his every wish to the contrary. He walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis, both inside and outside the White House. Attacked by friends and enemies alike, with scandal and conspiracy swirling around him, he is confronted with a terrible choice: keep his head down, toe the party line and survive, or act on his stubborn, late-developing conscience and take a stand. The series is based on the bestseller by Clinton and Patterson, which was the No. 1 novel of 2018 and has sold more than 2.3 million copies in North America alone.

Adaptation of Donald L. Miller book “Masters of Air” will be tech giant’s first in-house production
Apple has partnered with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg on a limited WWII drama series “Masters of Air,” which will be the first series produced in-house by the tech giant.

“Masters of Air” is based the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller, and follows the true, deeply personal story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep. It is the third different series in Spielberg and Hank’s “WWII saga,” following “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific,” both of which aired on HBO. “Masters of Air” was initially in development at HBO back in 2013.

The series is being written by “Band of Brothers” alum John Orloff, who is also a co-executive producer.

Spielberg will executive produce through Amblin Television, alongside executive producers Hanks and Gary Goetzman for Playtone. Graham Yost (“Band of Brothers,” “Justified,” Speed) will co-executive produce alongside Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey and Steven Shareshian of Playtone.

“Masters of Air” will be the second Spielberg-produced series for Apple, joining the anthology “Amazing Stories.” “Masters” is the third international drama series, joining “Pachinko” and “Shantaram
