I watched the Comic Con panel where they made the announcement (as an aside, probably the best of the panels I saw as they were a bit more inventive than others).
The show creator broke the news to the cast live (after initially sounding a bit negative on the show's future) on the panel and it was nice to see their shock and happiness - a few of them shed genuine tears. They seem to be really into it.

The four seasons relates to the fact the show's creators had always planned it as a seven season show and this announcement lets them tell the full story. I was very pleasantly surprised given we hadn't even had word of a fourth season at this point.

Netflix has ordered The Witcher: Blood Origin, a six-part, live-action series that will serve as a prequel to the streaming service’s The Witcher series.

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will “tell a story lost to time — the origin of the very first Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘conjunction of the spheres,’ when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.”

'How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)' renewed for a third season. Apparently, Netflix's most-watched original drama series. It's a very enjoyable show.

Amy Adams is headed back to the small screen: The Sharp Objects actress will star in the Netflix limited series Kings of America, which will reunite Adams with Vice director Adam McKay, the streamer announced as part of its virtual Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday.

The drama tells the story of “three powerful women whose lives were inextricably intertwined with the world’s largest company: a Walmart heiress, a maverick executive, and a longtime Walmart saleswoman and preacher who dared to fight against the retail giant in the biggest class action lawsuit in U.S. history,” per the official synopsis. Adams will play one of the leads.

The series was created and written by author/journalist Jess Kimball Leslie, with Diana Son (13 Reasons Why) serving as showrunner. Leslie and Son will executive-produce alongside McKay — who will also direct the first episode — Adams, Brunson Green, Bond Group Entertainment’s Stacy O’Neil and Hyperobject Industries’ Betsy Koch.

    Mimic

TV Series Reboot Of Sci-Fi Thriller Movie In Works At Miramax TV With Paul WS Anderson Directing
Miramax Television is rebooting cult 1997 horror sci-fi thriller movie Mimic as a TV series. Paul WS Anderson is set to direct the potential pilot and executive produce the series with his longtime producing partner Jeremy Bolt.

Jim Danger Gray (Orange Is the New Black) will write the adaptation, executive produce and serve as showrunner. Based on Donald A. Wollheim’s short story of the same name, Mimic revolves around genetically engineered insects who evolve, developing the ability to mimic their human prey, and the race to stop them from taking over.

This marks one of the highest-profile projects at Miramax TV since Marc Helwig was appointed Head of Worldwide Television in May, when he indicated that mining the Miramax film library for TV projects is “is one important part” of his strategy.

    Who’s The Boss?

Sequel With Tony Danza & Alyssa Milano In Works At Sony Pictures Television
EXCLUSIVE: One of the most beloved television comedies is making a comeback. A Who’s the Boss? sequel is in development at Sony Pictures Television.

Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano are on board to reprise their iconic roles as Tony and Samantha Micelli, a father/daughter relationship that families around the world grew up with over the course of 196 episodes on ABC from 1984-92.

The show averaged more than 33 million live viewers per episode during its eight-season run on ABC and went on to be a big hit in U.S. and international syndication. Who’s the Boss? was progressive in its depiction of a modern family in the ’80s with a reversal of gender roles and stereotypes. The show was nominated for 10 Emmys and five Golden Globes.

The new show will take place 30 years after the events of the original series, centered around former Major League Baseball player/retired housekeeper Tony Micelli and his relationship with his daughter Samantha Micelli. She is now a single mother, living in the house the original series was set in. In line with Norman Lear’s classic shows, the new comedy will explore generational differences, as well as opposing world views and parenting styles within the dynamic of a modern family in 2020.

Original cast members Judith Light (Angela) and Danny Pintauro (Jonathan) are supportive of the new series, and the hope is to find creative ways to work them and their characters into the show. The cast remains very close to this day. The other standout cast member, Katherine Helmond (Mona), passed away on February 23, 2019.

Whenever I see the name Miramax I think of the rapist Harvey Weinstein so I was more shocked that the Miramax brand is still a thing no matter who owns it that not a good look on any brand.

I looked and it is owned 49% by ViacomCBS and 51% by beIN Media.

Depends on the route they take with it. There have been series before of people being replaced/controlled by aliens before so similar idea? And this could just be short seasons. Never saw the sequels and barely remember the original.

A League Of Their Own Reboot Gets Series Order At Amazon
Amazon Studios has picked up to series to A League Of Their Own, a reimagining of Penny Marshall’s 1992 film, from co-creators Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), who also stars, and Will Graham (Mozart in the Jungle), and Sony Pictures TV.

The hourlong series, described as a fresh approach to Marshall’s classic about the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, will follow brand new characters who embody the spirit of a generation of women who dreamed to play professional baseball. “The show takes a deeper look at race and sexuality, following the journey of a whole new ensemble of characters as they carve their own paths towards the field, both in the League and outside of it,” according to the streamer.

“28 years ago, Penny Marshall told us a story about women playing professional baseball that up until then had been largely overlooked. We grew up obsessed with the film, like everyone else. Three years ago, we approached Sony with the idea of telling a new, still overlooked set of those stories. With the help of an enormously talented team of collaborators, an amazing cast, and the devoted support of Amazon to this project, we feel beyond lucky and excited to get to bring these characters to life.” said Graham and Jacobson. “It took grit, fire, authenticity, wild imagination and a crackling sense of humor for these players to achieve their dreams. We’re hoping to bring audiences a story with all of those qualities.”

In addition to Jacobson, A League Of Their Own stars Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Kelly McCormack, Roberta Colindrez, and Priscilla Delgado, with recurring guest stars Molly Ephraim, Kate Berlant and Melanie Field.

“There’s no crying in baseball, or at Prime Video,” said Vernon Sanders, Co-Head of Television, Amazon Studios. “Will and Abbi have taken a classic movie, reimagining it for a new generation with new characters and their own fresh, modern vision on a timeless story of big dreams, friendship, love, and, of course, baseball. We’re so excited to partner with Sony to bring this emotional, exciting new series to our Prime Video customers around the world.”

A League of Their Own hails from Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television in association with Field Trip Productions. Graham and Jacobson executive produce with Field Trip’s Hailey Wierengo. Elizabeth Koe is co-executive producer. Jamie Babbit served as executive producer for and directed the pilot.

The feature, penned by Kelly Candaele and Kim Wilson and directed by Marshall, went on to gross $132 million worldwide. In 2012, the Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry.

“Abbi and Will have done a masterful job of reimagining this timeless classic. We are very thankful to our partners at Amazon for bringing this incredibly relevant and important story to audiences around the globe,” said Jeff Frost, President of Sony Pictures Television.
