    The Box

Anna Friel To Star In Supernatural Series ‘The Box’ From ‘Shades Of Blue’ Creator
Adi Hasak, creator of NBC series Shades Of Blue and USA Network thriller Eyewitness, is teaming up with Nordic Entertainment Group on supernatural anthology series The Box, which will star Emmy-winner Anna Friel (Marcella).

The English-language series was green-lit off Hasak’s series bible. Plot details are largely being kept under wraps but we understand Friel will play the lead role of Sharon Pici, a Kansas City Police Detective who is locked in a room that she cannot escape. The drama will begin as a character-driven psychological thriller but evolve into a supernatural horror.

Hasak will serve as showrunner and has written or co-written all eight, 30-minute episodes. Co-writers are Paula Killen, Josh Azouz and Clare Siobhan Byrne. Production is due to begin in February 2021 in Stockholm, Sweden, and will follow the country’s COVID-19 protocols......

    Devoted

‘Snowpiercer’ Producer Tomorrow Studios To Adapt Dean Koontz’s Thriller ‘Devoted’ For Television
Tomorrow Studios, the producer behind apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer, is working up a television adaptation of Dean Koontz’s latest thriller novel Devoted.

The company, which is a joint venture between Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios, is adapting the book as a television series. Adelstein and Tomorrow Studios President Becky Clements will executive produce the series, along with Koontz.

The book, which was published by Amazon Publishing in March 2020, tells the story of Woody Bookman, a boy who hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life, and who believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother.

When Kipp, a uniquely gifted dog with a heart as golden as his breed, hears the boy, who communicates like he does without speaking, Kipp knows he needs to find him before it’s too late. Only a force greater than evil, like Kipp, can stop a man driven by malicious evil from attacking Woody and his mother.

It is the latest television adaptation of one of Koontz’s novel. In 2016, Mr. Robot‘s Gloria Reuben teamed with Cathy Konrad’s Tree Line Film and Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Television to adapt Koontz’s Dark Rivers of the Heart for television. Other books to have been adapted include Mr. Murder for ABC in 1998 and The Face of Fear for CBS in 1990.

“Dean is an incredible force and his acumen for writing suspenseful thrillers with heartfelt characters and story makes him uber successful globally,” said Adelstein. “We are honored to have him entrust us with the adaptation of his story and for Devoted to be the latest book rights that we’ve secured for Tomorrow Studios.”

“The characters in Devoted are close to my heart, and it would be a career capper to see them brought to the screen,” added Koontz.

    The Woman in the House

Kristen Bell to Headline Rear Window-Like Netflix Limited Series
Kristen Bell sees dead people — or does she? — as the title character in Netflix‘s The Woman in the House.

Ordered to series on Tuesday by the streaming giant, The Woman in the House stars the onetime Good Place resident as Anna, a heartbroken woman for whom every day is the same. (We’ve all been there, amiright?!) Per the official synopsis for the darkly comic thriller, Anna “sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbor moves in across the street, she starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder…. Or did she?”

Bell is also an executive producer on the eight-episode limited series, which was created by Nobodies‘ Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson and Larry Dorf and also counts Gloria Sanchez Productions’ Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Brittney Segal among its EPs.

Additionally, Marti Noxon (Dietland, Sharp Objects) will serve as a creative consultant on the series.

    The Son

Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in HBO's Adaptation of Jo Nesbo Novel The Son
Jake Gyllenhaal‘s series-regular TV debut is officially set at HBO. The Academy Award-nominated actor will executive-produce and star in a limited series adaptation of Norwegian author Jo Nesbo’s 2014 novel The Son, TVLine has learned.

Described as a “tale of vengeance set amid Oslo’s brutal hierarchy of corruption,” The Son will be written by Lenore Zion and directed by Denis Villeneuve. They will also executive-produce alongside Gyllenhaal, Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, Riva Marker and Athena Wickham.

“Jonah and Lisa are a formidable creative force and we are excited to collaborate with them again, alongside the brilliant Lenore, to adapt Jo Nesbo’s novel,” says Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, in a statement. “Denis is a master at weaving visually exquisite and unique narratives, Jake is a gifted actor and producer whose work often traverses provocative and compelling terrain, and of course, he and Denis have collaborated brilliantly in the past. We are beyond excited to see how this powerhouse team tackles this exceptional work.

    Willow

Willow Sequel Series a Go at Disney+, Warwick Davis to Reprise Title Role
Yet another story beloved by children of the 1980s is about to get another chapter.

Disney+ has ordered a tv series that will serve as a sequel to Willow, Ron Howard and George Lucas’ 1988 fantasy film about a farmer who finds himself wrapped up in an epic journey. The streaming service announced the series order Tuesday.

Warwick Davis, who played Willow Ufgood in the movie, will reprise his character in the TV series. The continuation will take place two years after the events of the film and will introduce new characters.

“So many fans have asked me over the years if Willow will make a return, and now I”m thrilled to tell them that he will indeed,” Davis said via statement. “Many have told me they grew up with Willow and that the film has influenced how they view heroism in our own world. If Willow Ufgood can represent the heroic potential in all of us, then he is a character I am extremely honored to reprise.”

In the film, Willow must keep a much-sought-after infant girl out of the clutches of the evil Queen Bavmorda, who believes the child will bring about the end of her dark reign. He is joined on his journey by Madmartigan, a fighter played by Val Kilmer (Top Gun).

Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) will executive-produce with showrunners Jonathan Kasdan (Solo), Wendy Mericle (Arrow) and Howard. Chu also will direct the pilot. Bob Dolman, who wrote the original film, will serve as a consulting producer. Lucasfilm will produce the series.

Maybe the people in his village age quickly or due to fallout from what happened.
Whatever about Willow, Madmartigan definitely shows his age now

Buck Rogers finally set to return to both the big and small screen: report

    buckrogers52-640x422.jpg
Legendary Entertainment is finalizing the last details to secure the screen rights to one of sci-fi's oldest and most underused characters, Buck Rogers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production company behind the upcoming epic "Dune" and movies like "Pacific Rim" and "Hellboy" is visualizing a big-screen project that would pave the way for a television series and an anime series, telling tales of sci-fi action and adventure in the 25th century.

Don Murphy and Susan Montford will produce through their Angry Films company, whose credits include "Transformers" and "Real Steel."
